Hazel’s pov.
When I opened my eyes again, it was Ava who was next to me.
She held my hand in hers and her eyes had a worried expression in them.
“You’re awake?” she said, touching my forehead to feel my temperature.
“What’s going on?” I tried to sit up, feeling a splitting headache and touching the gauze that was wrapped around my head.
“You have a mild concussion, Hazel. Try not to move too much”
A concussion? I sighed, finally sitting up and staring at her.
“Are you okay?” I asked, remembering the earthquake. I don’t remember seeing her during all the chaos.
“We shouldn’t be worrying about me right now” Ava stared at me and swallowed hard. I knew there was something wrong then and I gave her a nod to spill it out.
