Flashback
“Lily?” I hear David outside. He can’t see the house any longer. “Lily?”
He sniffs and looks around, walking west a little. “No. I know this tree. She should be here.”
He walks forward until he hits the outer wall of the cloaking spell. He raises his hand, gently touching the barrier. “Lily, please. Why are you hiding? You told me to join the pack.”
I sit on the steps of the porch, watching him. He can’t see me, but I can see him clearly. He looks so upset. I can see the hurt and betrayal on his face, but this is how it needs to be. He only thinks he loves me, but deep down, only his precious Les matters to him.
