“I don’t want to see them,” Amelia said. “Tell them I’m not around.” Her mother frowned at her. “What do you mean, sweetie? They came all the way to see you. I’ll go welcome them. You go ahead and clean your face and join us downstairs.” Her parents were gone before Amelia could stop them. Sighing, she went into her bathroom and washed her face. There was not much she could do for her bloodshot eyes, but it’s not like she was bothered enough to try and appear presentable for the two of them. By the time she made it downstairs, her mother had already offered Blue and Arthur drinks and was engaging them in conversation in the living room.
