Maximus dropped another empty bag of blood into the bin next to the bed. He touched his father’s arm and felt warm skin beneath his hand. They were slowly coming back to him. He thought it would take longer than that. But the human blood was working faster than he had thought. After two days, they were looking like their normal selves again. Their skin was less pale, and his mother’s hair was returning to its glossy waves. Maximus patted his father’s arm tiredly. He’d been awake for forty-eight hours straight. He couldn’t bring himself to rest until he made sure that his parents were alright. “They look better,” Ramnlin said as he walked to the bed. “You should go and rest, before the elders start to arrive. I’ve heard from the elders in the area that they will be making their way to you
