POV: Naomi My head was pounding. No— That wasn’t even enough to describe it. It felt like my skull had been split open and put back together the wrong way. “Ow…” I groaned softly, turning slightly on the bed. The surface beneath me was soft. Too soft. That alone felt entirely wrong. Slowly, I lifted my hand and touched the back of my head. Pain shot through my whole body instantly. “Damn…” I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to steady myself. And then— Everything rushed back. The street. The van. Those men. Sophie. My eyes flew open— Only to shut again immediately as a sharp light stabbed into them. “s**t…” I whispered, turning my face away. I stayed still for a moment, letting my eyes adjust then slowly—carefully—I opened them again. “Sophie…” My voice came out hoarse.
