I couldn't sit still.
My legs bounced under the kitchen table. I'd been trying to read the same page for about twenty f*****g minutes. The words kept moving around while my mind kept going back to Axel and the others.
Were they safe? Had they found anything? Were vampires watching them right now?
I probably seem paranoid and stupid right now.
I slammed the book shut instead and rubbed my eyes. "This is stupid."
The compound felt different with half the pack gone. Every little sound made me jump. A door creaking. Wind against the windows. My own heartbeat in my ears.
I checked the clock on the wall. They'd been gone for two hours. Two hours felt like forever, but I was beginning to feel lonely as I still haven't met with other members yet. I still avoid them mostly.
