CONNOR To know something might happen, I realized, does not prepare you for when the thing actually happens. The first thing I’d done after winning the match and rescuing Lily and Ev had been calling a therapist. I still didn’t know precisely what had been done to her, what kind of trauma had she gone through, and I had no intention of f*****g up her recovery by just trying and improvising. I knew she needed help, and I knew I, too, needed it, to understand her and her reactions better, to help her get better, and ultimately to be a useful and positive presence by her side during her recovery. I’d known dr Lisa Francis for quite some time, by now – she had helped me navigate through my own trauma of losing Lils, of realising she’d been taken from me, and the whole shitshow with Jane.
