Ever since we moved to that place, life had never been the same for us, it was us now against the world, dad worked tirelessly to see us happy, he would come home early to help us with homework, mom got herself a job in the nearby private hospital as a nurse while dad managed his several businesses. Uncle Steve was always his right hand man and i still had my doubts about him although dad trusted him so much i always knew there was something up to his sleeves, he wasn't just helping dad like he always claimed her was and i was determined to unravel the dirty secret he was hiding from us.

Two months later, it was our birthday, and something special about our family, we shared my birthday with mom whole Talia shared her birthday with dad, i was turning twelve at that time while mom was turning thirty two. Dad held a birthday party for the both of us in the house where he invited his few colleagues while mom invited her few friends from work and her old friends, i invited my friends, Elena, my best friend, Pedro and Jayden, the only three friends i had grown close to since i joined the school.

Pedro was the most handsome boy in our class and every girl wished they what's him as their friend but Pedro chose me, i don't know if it was a mere crush or i was just being obsessed with his looks? He was half Italian and half Belgium,her mom was from Italy while his dad was from the Belgium, his dad met his mom while in Kenya for a tourist visit and that's how the two fall in love and gave birth to Pedro, a talk handsome boy with beautiful hazel eyes, he has this spiky hair and his pink lips are a turn on.

I remember when i first came to school, dad drove us to school, the rich kids were staring at us like we were some walking zombies. I didn't even know where to go after dad bade us goodbye and promised to come for us in the evening. I helped Talia locate her class and she immediately bumped into town pretty girls of her age, Gina and Elisa, they became friends and i left her in their care. As i was walking i jumped into a certain group of girls who threw my backpack intentionally and all my books were thrown all over.

"Oh my God look at that skinny and pathetic loser" one of the girls said and the rest burst into a laugh

"I wonder how she got herself into this school, hey ugly, are you lost or are you sure you are in the right place?" The other girl said and the rest laughed

"Ooh let her be, you are going to confuse her even more with your English let her pick her books and leave maybe she was just passing by, or maybe she was looking for someone i don't think she knows anyone from this place, this place doesn't suit her" the other tall girl said and they laughed as they laughed leaving me there to pick my all strewn books, first day at school and i met the school bullies who called themselves pretty, they actually thought they were beautiful, i just tall and skinny girls with cheap make ups in their face and skimpy dresses

As i bent to take the last book, i hand stopped me and i looked up to see who was in, and there is how i met my Pedro, i was lost in his eyes for a minute, dreaming and wishing i could stare at the for a little longer, but my reverie was cut short

"Hey are you okay, you seem lost?"

"Ooh no...I'm fine, thanks for the help i should get going" i said as i tried to pick my book from his hands quite embarrassed at my behavior but he didn't allow me to

"No unless you tell me your name, I'm Pedro Lance, but everyone calls me Pedro, what about you pretty?" He asked and i found myself blushing Scarlet." Don't be shy u won't bite I'm just here to help, you seem new here, your first day?

"Eh.. yeah,my first day"

"I guessed so, I'm also new here but about two weeks old so I'm not that new, i can help you around but you didn't tell me your name?"

"Ooh sorry my bad, I'm Danelya"

"Ooh nice to meet you Danelya, beautiful name for a beautiful girl like you, would you mind if I called you Danny, Danelya seems quite long to me"

"No of course not, it's fine by me" i said and he smiled as he handed me back my book

"Here is your book, can i see your timetable, we might be sharing classes, you never know" he said and i didn't hesitate, i gave him my timetable and seemed like we were going to share almost every class. We were both in the senior year.

Well from there we went to class together, seemed like he was the school's cute face because he was quite well known and the most handsome boy in the school, everyone was now envying me and i was enjoying the limelight and the State. He introduced me to his group of friends, Jayden and Jessy. Jessy didn't like me that much but Jayden also became my good friend since then, we would go for lunch together, go for hiking and we would sometimes do studies together.

Pedro's dad was an ambassador while his mom worked at the president's office. They were quite rich and he owed different car models, it reached a point where Pedro would drive me home sometimes, and he would pick Talia and i to school. Dad was okay with it as long as I was careful, he always told me to be careful understood i was in my teenage years, years full of emotions and stupid feelings so i always talked to mom about anything and she would advise me accordingly. She became my confidant and my best friend, i would openly tell her about my fears and would talk about anything with her. Life was proving to be so good and soon enough mom bought her own car,while dad bought himself another car.

We soon graduated and we went to highschool just the same school though.

Rumors started that Pedro and i were dating and it was kind of weird to me because Pedro and i never had anything going between us, we had become best friends within one year and it was hard to tell if he has feelings for me because we only hugged and spent most of the time together.

On my birthday, dad bought me a lot of gifts, including a laptop, mom also bought me a new phone the latest model, and i was super happy. Most of the students at school had the latest phones while i had the android phone. I was happy when dad bought me a new iPhone apple phone. It was like my dream come true. Jay bought me my favorite novels, six pack.

"Danny i have a surprise for you" Pedro told me as we were seated in my room , playing games on Xbox games, he had taught me to play video games and we would spent time together on weekends when we were free, or after we were done with assignments

"Hmm..and what is the surprise about?" U asked curiously

"Hmm i won't tell because it's a surprise but it's not here, we have to go home"

"Ooh I'll have to ask dad for permission, i don't think he will allow me now that Its my birthday" i said frowning

"Don't worry i got a plan"

"What plan?" I asked

"Just follow me, I'll talk to you dad" he said and led me towards the living room where dad was seated with his friends, mom was busy in the kitchen

"Hello Mr Ryan, can i talk to you please?" Pedro said and i was surprised he was able to talk to dad.

"Of course Pedro what is it?"

"I'd like to steal Danny from you for a little bit, i have a surprise for her" he said courageously and i was taken aback. He was such a bold and courageous type.

"Oow i see, for how long?"

"Just a few hours she will be back before you know it, please" he half begged

"Okay but bring him before night falls and be careful please"

"Okay sir i promise, we will be careful, I'll take care of her"
