The days that followed were really tough for my sister and I, Kenadi’s burial preparations and her case with the DCI, from the traffic cameras, she was spotted by the roadside, seemed like she was waiting for her ride when suddenly a black SUV drove past her then it was reversed, two armed men got out of the car and grabbed her together with her back, threw her in the backseat and drove off with her, the following day she was found by the roadside r***d and her body dumped, she was so innocent and didn’t deserve what was done to her, no one deserves to die such a horrible death, may her soul continue resting in eternal peace

After the burial, we went back home, the mood was somber and it was understandable, I went straight to my room, well to our room after taking our late lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Montero left for work immediately after Kenadi’s burial while we were driven back to the house, we were to do some revision since it was on Saturday and we were starting our end year exams o Monday the following week.

For the longest time ever since my birthday, I decided to switch on my phone and the first thing I did was to log into my i********: account and there were numerous condolence messages from some of my classmates and Elena had send me almost fifty messages asking where I was, she was my best friend but I didn’t even bother to tell her what happened, my phone was off the whole time ad I didn’t even remember to inform her I had moved out and I was at Pedro’s house, I immediately logged out and went to my call logs, I dialed her number and put her on speaker

“Hey Danny? where the hell have you been? I’ve tried to call you nonstop but your phone was off for one full week Danny what is going on, I just saw on the news about your parents’ death and you can even tell me, why are we friends?” she asked clearly mad at me but she would have called Pedro and asked where I was, or Jayden for that matter, the two get on so well and you might think they were a couple. I remember the first day when I was with Elena and we bumped into Pedro and Jayden. I think that was when the two clicked, the rest was history

“I’m sorry Lena , ever since that day on my birthday I have never be home, a lot has been and I didn’t know where to start from, I was arrested the same day and ever since weird and unexpected has been happening , first I lost my grandma, the my parents in the car bomb crash then my cousin whom you saw on the news, we laid her to rest today, I was off I just switched on my phone right now and I got your numerous texts, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you what was going on but forgive me if I tell you I was too confused, you understand how I’m feeling right now” I said as I sat on the couch in the room.

“Of course I do understand and don’t be sorry, I should have called or eve looked out for you, you have been through a lot, you are strong Danny, where are you? I want to see you, I want to be there for you, I have been going to your house but I didn’t see any sign of you, the house is totally different, I found some new occupants ad when I asked them about you, I was told they didn’t know if that name existed, and at one point one of the guys threatened me” she said and my heart skipped a beat

“What! What did he tell you? Did he hurt you?” I asked alarmed, I didn’t want any other person to die because of me, enough was enough

“Just tell me your location, I will tell you everything once I’m there with you, I am I town” she said and I agreed with her, maybe her phone calls were trapped, you never know, so I hang up and texted her my location, she said she would be there in thirty minutes due to traffic

I went back downstairs and found Pedro and Talia playing video games, I was happy for her and glad she was coping up and getting along with my boyfriend

“Hey guys I hope I’m not interrupting?” I asked as I stood on the last stair watching them from a distance

“Yes as you can see we are busy, hmm… or what do you say? You want join us?” Talia asked and I couldn’t help but chuckle at her comment, I was glad she was learning to live with it

“No, not today, I came to ask Pedro something” I said and went to seat next to him on the couch, he paused the game and turned his attention back to me and Talia groaned

“Hey sorry sis I know you mad at me for interrupting your game but I won’t take much of your time, I was just asking if it is okay for Elena to pass by, she said she wanted to see me today and I hope you won’t mind?” I asked him and he laughed before he responded to my question

“It is okay Danny you can bring whoever you want but not cute boys than me” he said and I couldn’t hold back my laughter

“You are funny, so I’m allowed to bring my ugly friends but not more cute than you? That is funny but I heard you, any way let me take shower before she comes, I will leave you guys to continue with your game, direct her to my room once she arrives” I said and head back to our room to freshen up before Elena showed up

After about twenty minutes, I walked out of the shower, feeling fresh, I chose a pair of blue boyfriend trouser a black sweat shirt from my closet and put them on, I took my laptop and started playing sons as I waited for Elena

Minutes later, the door was knocked and I mumbled a come in before I sat upright on the bed, Elena walked I looking all cute in a black jumpsuit and a pair of black transparent nude heels. You know what I always wondered how she managed to balance school work and her modeling career, she had a killer body and I was always envy of her, she had a great sense of fashion, you know Elena stayed with her mom, she was a single mother who got pregnant while she was still in high school, she was a half cast, her mom was black while her dad was a white whom she never met because her mom said she didn’t want anything to do with him, her family never allowed her to marry him since he was a white and that is how Elena ended up living with her mom and ever had a chance to see her dad

“Hey love? She said as she hugged me tightly. “I’m sorry for what you went through, I should have been here for you but I failed terribly, but I’m now here to make it up for you” she said as she handed me a carrier bag

“No you are here that is what is what is important and what is this you brought me?” I asked as I proceeded to sit on the couch and she joined me

“Just check what is in there, I know it’s not much but what I know is that it is your favorite and you going to like it” she said and I proceeded to open the carrier bag , it had two cards, a bouquet of flowers, my favorite cake flavor, chocolate, my favorite juice, cranberry

“Wow thank you so much, I love you Elena” I said as my eyes got teary, she always knew how to lighten my moods, she was heaven sent

“No don’t thank me , I love you back, the other card is from mom, she said she will pay you a visit as soon as I find your location and the flowers too, the other card is mine, you will look at them later” she said and I hugged her . We chatted for a while as she kept me updated o what was going o school, w talked about a lot of things

“You said you were threatened, by who exactly and how did he threaten you?” I asked still surprised at the turn of events

“Well the first time I went to your house was the day after your birthday but no one was around, I went there again about three days ago, but everything had changed, the gateman was not the same one, I asked him if I could see you and he immediately called his boss I guess and your uncle walked to the gate, I immediately knew something was wrong, I asked if you were around and he said you weren’t , he asked me to call you and lucky enough you were off, he asked me how you and I were related and I said you were my classmate and that I had gone to check on you and give you your assignment. He threatened to beat me if I didn’t tell him your whereabouts but I didn’t know so he finally let me and since then I have been looking for you, I’m glad you are alive, that uncle of yours is so evil, he is after your life” Elena said and it made sense to me, my uncle wanted me dead so he could fully take charge of my father’s property ad I was not going to let that happen

“Thank you for telling me, I will be more careful from him, I don’t know what he is up to but I will make sure I avoid him at all costs, I trusted him as my only uncle and now look at him” I said in regrets and deep thoughts, I wished dad could have known the kind of brother he had before trusting him, he had failed him

“What is going on Danny? You know if you help me I’m going to help you, we are friends” she said and I agreed with her but there was no way I was going to tell her everything, she was my friend, a best friend to be precise but the kind of secret I was holding was more vital than that friendship

“It is okay Elena, Pedro’s parents are taking good care of me and they also ensure my safety, I will be fine, don’t worry too much”

“Okay as you say but you know where to find me, I’m always one call away, I understand you going through a lot right now, I will be here if you want to talk about it” she said and I felt bad I had to lie to her but it was for my own safety, before I could even reply there was a knock on the door and I excused myself to go and open the door
