“I called you all here because I wanted to talk to you before Ely’s mom stopped by, I know we all didn’t expect things to turn out the way they did, but we don’t choose what to happen neither do we have choices on what happens daily” she said and we all nodded while waiting anxiously to know why she had called us outside.

When she left us in the room, we all had questions to ask ourselves but we didn’t get answers to our numerous questions, like she slept the previous day pretty sad and mad at her husband but hr waking up the following day feeling like a whole vibe, she looked happy and it was evident from look of the things that everything was okay except for the few questions we had to ask her.

After cleaning up and spreading our beds we all headed to the kitchen as she had instructed, she said she wanted a hand in the kitchen and I wondered why because that house was full of maids and house helps, well when we got to the kitchen there was no cooking, we were instead showed outside, Mrs. Montero was seating on one of the numerous chairs outside, just close to the swimming pool, there were three extra empty chairs beside her, our stairs to be precise.

“Well, about yesterday I’m truly sorry for overreacting, it is normal for any woman to react to such kind of news, I was devastated at first because, my husband, Davidson never told me that he had a kid out there and not just a kid but a lovely and pretty girl like you Ely, all my life I wanted to have kids, I actually wanted to get Pedro a sister but with the kind of work I’m doing it is difficult unless we adopt on, but now that you are here, Ely, I want you to com and stay with us, it would be fun to have all of you around, the house has been a little bit boring but trust me you when I say you have brought nothing but happiness in the house, Pedro was always alone and sad but now that you people are around, he has been happy of late and I’m glad for that, I just want you to accept my plea and stay with me please, Danny and Talia , I know what happened was tragic and untimely but I want you to trust me when I tell you that I am more than willing to cater for all of your needs as my own and please I’m not doing that just because you are my son’s girlfriend but because I want to, I understand you want to make the decision on your own but I would love if you all considered my plea, I know you have no relatives as per now but I am more than willing to be the one, to fill the gap your family left, I know I might not fit but I can try to fit, only if you give me a chance, same to you Ely, I talked to your dad about it and he was so happy, so please say yes” she said with pleading eyes and I guess I was left with no choice but this decision was to be made on a personal level, I didn’t want to make any decision for my sister, it was for her own good and comfortableness, so she was free to make her own decision

“Hmm… I don’t know what to say Mrs. Montero, I’m grateful for the shortest time we have stayed with you, I have known you to be the most loving woman I didn’t expect, we have stayed here as if it was our own home, we have interacted as if it was our own family and trust me, there is no single day I will regret the decision I made that day, you have really helped my sister and I and I’m truly grateful, we wouldn’t have done it without you, but this decision is hard, it is supposed to be on a personal level, I wouldn’t want to make any decision for my kid sister but personally wouldn’t mind to stay, it is clear it is not safe out there and we never know what might happen, like you earlier said, we don’t choose what to happen, so I’m grateful for your offer , I’m going to take it, we can’t on our own at least maybe after we are done with high school” I said and she smiled contented with my answer, she turned back to Talia who had still not made her decision yet

“I can’t agree less, what my sister has just said is right. When my grandma died and the my parents, I knew we had nowhere to go, I was stuck when you sent that driver to come and pick us, I was left wondering, will you allow us to stay longer? Will you be comfortable with us being at your house? But I got the answers to all those questions, you are truly a wonderful woman, with a beautiful heart and very loving, you sometimes remind m of my late mother, God bless you Mrs. Montero, I don’t know what my sister and I would have done without you, all thanks to you and about the offer, I’m in, I mean w have no option but despite that we can’t on our own out there, it is tough I know” Talia said and I felt proud of her, she was younger than me but was mature enough to make her decision, I love that girl to the moon and back

“Wow, that is Talia for you, honestly I’m proud of you all, such lovely girls, I am humbled but just so you know, I am glad you made the decision, it is going to be okay my dear, everything will be okay and like I earlier promised, I am going to make sure you two get what you deserve, your family’s justice and your safety, the rest will flow, is that okay?” she asked while her attention back to us

“Yeah it is fine by us, we are truly grateful” I said as I sipped on my juice, it was around mid morning

“Okay I’m glad, so what about you pretty?” she asked Ely who all this while was silent

“Hmm…I have always wanted to stay with my dad, I have always wanted to taste what it feels like to have a father figure in my life, so I am more than willing to stay and be with him but all that depends on my mom’s decision and reaction, but I would really love to stay, despite Pedro and Danny are my best friends , we are in the same class and it would be a lot easier for us to even handle assignments, and study together now that exams are around the corner, despite, I would really love to have a really family around” Ely said and trust me I had even forgotten about the school stuff

“Wow that sounds like a good plan let me hope your mom will respect your decision and let you stay here with us, well thank you all for understanding me and coming here, I am glad we all on the same page right now, now why don’t we go back inside and find something to eat then we will see what next she said and we all agreed with her, we headed back inside and the table was already laid, Pedro and his dad were already seated on the table waiting for us

“Ladies secret meeting I see, where have you ladies been?” Pedro said and I winked at him playfully

“Son don’t even go there, ladies thing, you can’t and you don’t want to know what they have been talking about, I would rather advise you just let them be so we can take our breakfast in peace” Mr. Davidson said and we all laughed at his statement

“Ladies affair, we are sorry we kept you waiting but like they say the early bird catches the worm, while the two of you were in deep slumber, we had already woken up and we took something so we are not as hungry as the two of you” Mrs. Montero said

“Whatever, let us take our breakfast in silence, we have a long day ahead” Pedro replied in surrender

The rest of the breakfast was taken in silence and once we were done, we took the dishes to the kitchen and went back to the living room, there was a family show program on TV so we ended up watching the show as we waited for Ely’s mom to show up, she didn’t know she was coming to meet her daughter’s father, it was supposed to be a surprise, after a few minutes into watching the show, the door bell rang, Mr. Davidson was in his study working , while the rest of us were seated in the living room, Ely offered to go and open the door, we guessed maybe it was her mom but guess who was at the door?
