We approached the packhouse with caution and Axel got the front door open. Overnight, a lot of rubble had fallen to the ground floor from the upper floors and we needed a torch to find our way through and not trip on anything.
Axel was in front of me and he held my hand the whole time as we navigated through what used to be our home.
We finally made it to the kitchen but the creaking and the noises surrounding us was making me feel really uneasy.
Axel went into the pantry and he moved some stuff off the floor and he grabbed a secret hatch and he lifted it up and pointed the torch towards the stairs below, while I was standing there watching him in amazement. I had cooked in that kitchen so many times, but I never knew that there was a secret room under the kitchen.
