She walks around the back chair, glancing nervously in Ezra and my direction before she lifts her arms and places her fingers on Ruby’s head. Ezra and I step forward so we can watch exactly what is going on, each of us on either side of the chair. Adelina closes her eyes and inhales deeply as her fingers start to penetrate Ruby’s skull. Ruby’s eyes squeeze shut as her face scrunches up in pain and my heart starts to race. I glance towards Ezra and he looks just as restless at having to watch her go through this. I clench my fists, digging my nails into the palms of my hands as I talk my demon down inside my head. I had to let this happen.
