Waking up was weird. Jayce's head spun, and his eyelids refused to fully open at first, feeling too heavy. His entire body felt heavy, though it wasn't painful. The experience was similar to the times he'd pull an all-nighter, and his body would start falling asleep on its own, and so Jayce had to snap himself out of it even though it felt like the most impossible thing in the world. The first thing Jayce registered was the smell of metal and mold. His eyelids still refused to fully open, and so the second thing he noticed was that something was holding his torso in place—because he was sitting down, and if not for the thing holding his chest up, he'd have slumped from whatever it was he was sitting on. The third thing Jayce's drowsy brain was able to process, was the fact that there
