The carriage ride was quiet.
King Thales had pulled Severin earlier, and after that short conversation—they had excused themselves and were now currently heading back to their fief. Alistair seemed anxious, and so did her husband. Roseanne didn’t know when or where she should ask about the whole thing.
It was a weird interaction. She had never known the King, but his expression and gaze toward her looked like they meant something. And yet, her family’s reaction to every bit of interaction that the King would offer me seemed like something that made them fear something.
