Serena's eyes fluttered open, little Stella still clutched protectively in her arms as Stefan and Xantha finished healing her, their eyes wide in alarm, Xavier sitting beside her perplexed as the little girl shrieked at him hysterically. He had no clue who she was or even how Serena came to be holding her. She also smelt a little funny to him. He was thankful to see his mate awake but was forced to hold back from hugging or kissing her lest the little girl screamed any louder than she already was.
"We thought we'd lost you for a second" Stefan remarked as he sat back in relief, Xantha murmuring the same sentiment, all of them staring at the child in Serena's arms.
"Who is she" Xavier said softly, the child now beginning to calm down as Serena sat up and hugged her close.
