“Are you nervous?” I asked Clayton when I met with him at the café before going to the church where my family is waiting. I had to go and meet with Clayton first because he was restless when I called him this morning and he said he wanted me to brief him first before he actually meets my family. So here we are, two hours before my usual church time, trying to ease off the nervousness and anxiety he is feeling inside. He reached out to me and hugged my waist, pulling me close to him. “I can’t do this in the church, right?” he asked. I narrowed my eyes at him. “Of course not! Do you want to be kicked off in the middle of the mass?” I asked him back. He sighed and kissed the top of my head. His gaze is trembling. This is not the usual Clayton Patrick Stephenson. He’s not confident.
