We get there relatively quickly. Ellie is the first to jump out ready to go shopping, it's her passing time though she only shops in sales. As we go in, the guys are behind us. Shortly after we split ways, Ellie and I head to the women's part of the store, and they head to the opening to the rest of the mall and to a jewelry shop, I assume. She heads to the sales area and starts shifting through the shirts.
"Sooo, how long have you been in loveeee with Trevor?" She asks, not looking at me but smiling plaster on her face. I gasp, a slight blush rushes over my checks from embarrassment,
"I don't know what you mean." I smile as she gives me the f*ck you look. "Not doing it." I shake my head, admitting but not going to go into it.
"Come on, you haven't dated anyone since Derrick went to college. That’s three years girl!" I roll my eyes, not wanting to talk about Derrick. "Don't try to ignore it." She huffs tossing me a shirt. When I don't answer she just stares at me. "Trevor isn't Derrick Sammy, he is sweet, flirty, but sweet, he is smart, exciting, caring, charming, and has a motorcycle. How much hotter can he get for you?" I snorted.
“That’s the thing he is flirting with me because he is bored, he doesn’t like me like I like him. Plus, even if we did date, we don’t match he is like what you said, and I’m relaxed the opposite of him.” She laughs.
"I’ve known him just as long as you have a bit longer even he is a great guy. I truly think he likes you if you need proof go talk to him. Also, I know the kinds of clothes in your closet Hun you are just dying to let her out. Look at the outfit I got from your closet, yours not mine, and there are so many more cute things I picked for you in there so trust that I will never stear you wrong. I just want you to have happiness. So, try living your life a little and don't let these things bother you too much. Gigi gave you that necklace and bracelet for that reason, to live, that's why you went and got your own place, right?" I nodded. "Okay, now try and trust someone."
"I trust you." I meek out, taking a shirt from her hands and putting it back. "No, no way in hell. Do you not want me to trust you anymore for Christ's sales?" She grins at me, suppressing a laugh. There was nothing to the shirt but a thin clothe holding it up. I could see right through it. I shake my head
"Other than me, you need some loving in your life. You know, good old-fashioned bang, bang dang f*ck damn love.” I laughed,
“F*ck off Ellie, you know how I am, and you know why. Trevor might not be like Derrick, but he is not the type I’m looking for. No matter how hot he is, looks mean nothing when you are a hoe bag.” She shakes her head,
“Don’t you think it would be different if he was with you.” I looked at her moving to another rack,
“Honestly no, why would he, he only wants s*x with those he dates.” I made finger quotation marks in the air, “Plus I am not the type he goes for, I’m fine with being friends.” That way I wouldn't lose him and wouldn’t get hurt.
“Your twenty-two and you've never even had a date since high school, I really think Trevor loves you too and has for a long time." She looks at the pile of clothes in my hands, "Let's go have you try these on. I'll find some more cute jeans or something to go with them after you find which you like." I nodded and headed to the dressing rooms. I tried the first one on. After ruling it out, I started to take it off, but a knock came at the door. I quickly pulled on the next shirt without really looking at it, just knowing it was black.
"I've only looked at two shirts dang, can you..." My voice stops as I open the door to see Trevor holding something, a dress? "I thought you were.... Never mind." I started to explain myself but stopped from rambling like an i***t before I started. "What do you want?" I asked after clearing my throat. He doesn't answer, kind of just staring at me or more like my shirt? I looked down, and it was a lace shirt that needed a serious undertop, meaning a full front view of me and my pink-red lace on white bra. Quickly turning around and semi-closing the door behind me, I hear him clear his throat, but when he speaks it comes out more of a growl.
"I like the bra." I gasp, and I hear him laugh a little before saying, "I saw this and well try it on." He sticks his arm in the gap of the door, I look at it. It is very pretty; the dress is black with red roses and thorns on it and with it is a beautiful necklace that shines with a ruby rose in the center of it. The style is beautiful but not meant for a tall, thin person like me.
"I can't, I won't do that dress any justice." He pushes the door a little bit open when he takes a step forward but, not entering the room, held the dress right in front of me.
"It will be stunning, and I'll be right back with a few things I had Ellie find to go with it." I laugh out of shock as I take the dress, not sure what to say, he closes the door and tells me to lock it and to put the dress on while he finds Ellie. I try to take deep breaths to calm down from my embarrassment, then get to work changing into the dress. I looked in the mirror and, yeah, so didn't look good. My legs are too long, and it was tight on the top, and I was not wearing the right bra. Ugh, I can't believe that happened. Fuckk, why me? f*****g Ellie! Always pick the craziest sh*t out... I hear a knock pulling me back from my own rambling thoughts.
"Samantha?" He pauses, "Are you dressed?" I jumped a little at his voice. It was deep and luring.
"Umm, yeah." I mumbled out, reaching out to unlock the door. I took a deep breath and let it out before opening. "I told you so." My arms wrapped around my waist as I stared at the ground, trying not to look at him.
"Here are these. Ellie picked everything out." I heard the smile in his voice. Something in me wanted to see it so I looked up, and he was holding a pile of things with boots on top of them all. I don't say anything but take them and go back in. Ellie thought of everything. She got me the appropriate bra, a black belt, tights and long black boots with normal inch heels, one of my red lipsticks and my mascara I thought I lost last Friday. It was my favorite shade of red, plus I just bought that mascara. I was even a little bummed out for a good minute. I smiled, almost laughing. She was always like this, and it was all on sale in one form or another. I put it all together, making the dress look better on me than when I first put it on. I take my hair out of the clip and let it flow over a jean jacket. I had naturally curly hair but the length and weight of my hair makes it more wavy than curly, plus I've learned what a curling iron is thanks to Ellie, year one, month one, of being together. I applied my make-up and took one more look before going to the door. Ellie and Trevor stand up, Ellie looking thoroughly to make sure she did a good job. I love it completely and totaling going to buy all of it. Trevor, on the other hand, was oddly silent. Something in me feels worried that he thinks I look ridiculous.
"You look am-az-ing!" Ellie says in delight. Then turns to Trevor. "Go on tell her how beautiful she looks." She giggles. I finally look at him, and he smirks, his dashing smile sparking red onto my checks making me shiver. Ellie must not have noticed it because she snaps her fingers in his face, he clears his throat.
"Yeah, you really do." We lock eyes and I get lost for a minute. I really do like him a lot.
"Thanks guys. I'm going to change and, since I am not that rich, I'll just buy this outfit." I smiled, "Now can we eat? I'm starving." My "shields" I have around my thoughts use my energy and a lot of it, but as long as I eat a little more carbs I'm good. Ellie rolls her eyes. She just thinks it's unfair that I don't gain anything.
"Oh no...” She starts but Trevor puts a hand up,
“I know how you feel about people buying things for you, but I already bought them for you online while we were waiting for you to get out of class. Keep everything on you look stunning. I’m going to go find Emilio while you two finish shopping.” He had taken a step towards me, resting a hand on my arm, never breaking eye contact. I take a deep breath in a hitch, his closeness has my mind dazing, so I end up nodding. His smile widened as his hand traveled down my arm ever so lightly, but my skin was on fire when he touched it. “See you soon.” His hand had slid into mine but only for a brief second before releasing it and walking away.
“Sigh, sometimes that man just has too nice of an ass.” Ellie links my arm with hers laughing, “Though he knows shopping means trying things on, right?” I laugh, and we continue shopping for another hour.
“I'm going to go buy my things." I arched my eyebrows,
"What are you buying?" She smiles,
"I have a few things for my love. I just had to get them!" Her boyfriend of eight years is something special. They love each other so much that they were stuck like glue at the beginning, but now it's like they live in their own harmonized life. I am so happy and jealous of her. I smile, then go in and change, gathering all the shirts to hang on the return racks. I opened the door with an arm full of shirts, but they were quickly taken from me. I looked at Trevor with a shocked face.
"What?" He asks as he shifts the shirts in his arm. I opened my mouth slightly but closed it again. He was really close for some reason and it was nerve-racking. I tried speaking again, licking my lips.
"Nothing, um, thanks. I'll just..." I turned to cut myself off. I take my bag and my clothes, I neatly piled together and walk out of the changing room. Trevor was walking back from the returning racks. I smile to myself, looking at him, he is gorgeous. ‘No, play boy.’ I remind myself as I take my clothes I was wearing earlier.
