We headed to the pack library when we were done with lunch. Kaelan flipped through some documents while I tried to read a book but I couldn't focus.
What if Evan failed?
I paced the study, and couldn't get my mind to relax. Kaelan relapsed in his seat and watched me silently.
"This isn’t fair," I finally burst out. "I think the elders are setting Evan up to fail."
Kaelan sighed. "It’s not about fairness, Everly. It’s about strength. If Evan wants to lead, he has to prove that he can lead."
I turned around to face him. "He has been training so hard these days! He’s spent the past weeks preparing for this moment. But instead of making things right, we’re throwing him into a fight that could kill him!"
