The Circle of Priestess’s Coven
An ear-splitting scream from Zelda’s house sent the birds nesting in nearby trees to take flight, and the little animals scurried back to their burrows. Her frustration could be heard reverberating all around her, as she could not understand what was happening to her spells. How can it be said that the great Zelda could no longer purify a circle?
It has been two days since her priestesses left, and she has remained troubled by her inability to do what was needed. She gave another ear-shattering frustrated scream as she looked into her orb and yet again came up with no answer. She paced around the room, wondering how she was going to achieve her plans of contracting the fantasma.
They were her only hope of exacting the revenge she had in mind. She was lost in thought and so did not hear her door open. A hooded figure stepped into the room and stood watching Zelda as she paced about. She knew the reason for the frustrated screams. After all, those screams echoed the ones in her head for the past several weeks now.
Her hopes had been high when Zelda returned, but right now she was no longer sure if they could pull off their initial plan.
“Maybe we should look elsewhere for help.” She suggested.
Zelda paused mid-step and looked at her. Her eyes twitched as she swallowed another frustrated scream. She could barely stand the distorted face that had once been a flawless beauty.
Eva.
She was all that was left of her twins. When she returned and heard what had happened to her family, the only thing that had kept her sane was the survival of her great granddaughter. It was Eva who explained to her all that had happened on that battleground. How they had lost the battle, and her twin had killed in an execution style and she, Eva badly battered by the red-haired watcher. The blow from Talia had destroyed the left side of Eva’s face. Not only did it knock off half of Eva’s teeth, but had also damaged her left eye and left her jawline permanently dislocated.
While their enemies were celebrating their victory after that battle, Eva had crawled unnoticed into the nearby forest and had made her escape when night fell.
All these and more were Zelda’s reasons for not letting up on her plan.
“Hello Eva. Sorry, I did not mean to wake you up.”
“Not when your screams are shaking the very foundation of this house. Anyway, I wasn’t sleeping. I have been thinking about an information I heard,”
Zelda looked at Eva and motioned for her to continue.
“I heard the vampires are on the verge of an internal war because their hybrid prince is mated to a werewolf. Some of their elders refuse to accept that match because an offspring from them will be more of a werewolf than a vampire.”
“and only their royal line can procreate.” Zelda added, catching up on the conversation.
“Yes, and they want him to choose a bride from the royal linage. They are looking to strengthen their coven by having as many purebreds as they can.”
They discussed how they can best use this information to their knowledge.
“We need to find out who this mate is and hand her over to the opposing vampire elders” Eva sneered
“Not before establishing what we will get in return.”
They speculated on the possibility of enlisting the vampire elders to fight on their side. While they were weighing their choices, an idea struck Zelda. She was going to involve an opposing vampire coven. The leaders of the northern vampire coven have always sought for ways to antagonise the southern coven. What could be better than handing to them the mate of their rival to do with as they pleased.

The Starlight Coven
Imani walked around the circle she had just prepared to make sure it was well fortified. After inspecting it, she gave a satisfied nod and asked the three healers standing inside the circle to begin their rituals. She supervised them closely to make sure they followed the instructions that have been laid out in the book she was holding. Her dark skin glistened from the candlelight and her brown eyes turned to rims of yellow gold as powers pulsated through her veins.
Never in history has a coven been gifted with two healers, and she could boast of three. In fact, there are currently no healers among their kind, and this makes her nervous that three was placed under her care. She shook her head to clear it so that she can concentrate on the task at hand.
Chanting the needed spells, she motioned for the girls to begin to channel their powers and was glad when their eyes turned yellow to mirror her own. She gave a small, satisfied smile and nodded for them to carry on. They needed to keep at it until they become one with their powers, until they are able to wield it without the aid of the circle.
Satisfied with how well the girls were doing, she allowed her mind to wander off to the issue that have been disturbing her. The grand priestess, Zelda. The older witch is on a quest for revenge over her family, and Imani knew that the success of that quest totally depended on her. However, what she did not want to do was to use her powers to satisfy another person’s selfish desires.
When she was born with a wiccan’s birthmark on her chest, her mother had been so scared of what Zelda would do should she find out. That fear had led her to cast suppression rituals on the newly born Imani immediately, and those rituals kept her alive when she was younger. Imani still performed those rituals to date. The only thing is that she now performed them more frequently because her powers have grown as well. She will keep performing them until she was ready to announce that a new coven has been chosen to rule.
No doubt that that announcement will not be well received by some of their kind. It is common knowledge that from the time of Zelda’s mother, that family has been doing all they could to install their seed as rulers among the supernatural kind. It is not frowned upon for witches to choose a male of another supernatural kind to breed with, since they are hardly ever given mates. However, what Zelda and her family have done was nothing short of coveting. They wanted to be the ruling family among the witches and also among the wolves, and Imani was sure that they would not have stopped there. She was sure that they would have carried on and infiltrated into the vampire covens until they ruled the whole of the supernatural world.
While it is true that all this chaos had started due to greed, Imani could not look pass the fact that they have lost a high priestess to the wolves. She wondered what would have happened if her kind had out rightly killed an alpha. But then she still felt that was not enough reason to summon the fantasma. She believed there were other ways that they can exact revenge without summoning those deadly things.
Those fantasmas are worse than wraiths.
