Chapter 14

The Lycan Royal Palace The oracle made the four watchers stand within a well-prepared circle, each facing the cardinal point that corresponded with their element. The lycan prince whose power was the ability to manipulate and control sand, rock, earth and any mineral that can be found in it faced the south. Alpha Axel faced the east because he can manipulate, absorb and control fire and heat. Mimi stood facing the north, her element to manipulate is water, and this means she can control anything that has moisture. Talia, who has already unlocked her power, faced the west. Although she had manipulated the wind in the past, she was yet to come into the fullness of her power, which is the ability to generate and control air and wind. As the ritual carried on, and power rose and swelled within the circle, causing the wizened old woman to nod in satisfaction. She spoke in a strong, commanding voice that did not match her physical looks. Urging them to allow their chakras to open up and align. They each felt the surge of power rising from deep within them until they were fully saturated. Their eyes snapped open one after the other and each of the watcher had their eyes blazing with a unique colour each from the other. Talia’s eyes were so grey to the point they could be mistaken for white, and the surrounding wind picked up speed in response to her manipulation. Her mate’s eyes blazed a fiery amber as leaks of smoke, then flames sipped out of his pores, but yet, he was not consumed. The earth trembled and stones rolled together into a pile as the prince’s eyes turned to a dark shade of brown. They were so brown that they could be mistaken for black. The intensity of Mimi’s electric blue eyes made them look like they were violet. She caused the surrounding moistures to pool before her in tiny bubbles. Each of them felt one with their element as they wielded their powers. After a while, the oracle signalled for them to rein in their powers. They did so easily. She walked round the circle and deactivated it. Looking from one watcher to the other, she encouraged them to step out and wield their powers individually. Although she was a little apprehensive, she was positive that they could do this on their own. After all, she has found the problem and fixed it. The four of them stepped out of the circle, and each of them easily wielded their powers. “You all are fully ready now.” Said the oracle in a sure voice. “Why couldn’t we do this before?” The prince asked her while flexing his fingers that still tingled from the powers that just flowed through them. “The previous rituals failed because we were doing it all wrong. Not only was the circle wrongly fortified, but you all had to stand in specific positions that correspond with your element.” She explained every circle had to be specifically prepared and fortified to suit its purpose, and that any mistake could make it lose its potency. But aside from getting the ritual circle right, the watchers were not ready for the powers that they had just unlocked. “So it should be easy to deal with these fantasmas.” Talia mused out loud. “No, they are indestructible.” That statement caused them to sit up properly. “It is impossible to kill them because they are soulless. However, you will have to devise a way to defeat them. “How do we defeat them? Alpha Axel asked. “No one has ever defeated them before, that is why I said you have to devise a means to do so.” “Is it possible to stop your vision from happening?” Asked Talia. She figured the best way to defeat them will be by not having them appear at all. “Some visions and even prophecies have been averted in the past, but when this happens it will usually give birth to new events.” After hours of pitching their ideas together, they agreed to leave for the outland packs right away. The oracle sent for the king and informed him of the latest development. He could not hold back his excitement on learning that they had finally unlocked their powers. “I think it will be best if some of my warrior troupes went with you watchers.” The king offered. “No, father, we will rather arrive unannounced. If we need help, we will send for it.” The prince responded for himself and his friends. “Do you realize the time it will take for your message to reach me, and for the warriors to get to the outlands?” “I will let you know when to send the troupes out.” The oracle offered before any of the watchers could respond to the king’s statement. With that settled, the watchers set out on their journey. As they left, they could feel the burden of their fate weighing on their shoulders. A lot of their kind envied them on the importance of their destiny, but the four watchers were beginning to understand that being born to protect your kind was not an easy task.   Mimi was the first to voice her feelings, but she did so to Talia privately as they journeyed. “I still find it hard to believe we are both watchers.” Mimi said, her voice sounding playful and serious at the same time. “Imagine the two awkward girls of the full moon pack.” Talia responded. They held each other’s hands like they use to do from when they were just pups. “Why didn’t you tell me that you are a watcher when you first found out? Talia asked. “At that time, Ingrid and I knew we were in grave danger and had to bolt it out of there. I wanted to tell you but was too afraid to even voice it within our pack, so instead I begged you to come with me.” Talia nodded her head as she remembered her friend’s desperate plea to have her come along. “I was too afraid too. I did not have my own wolf then.” “I would have pushed till you changed your mind but feared what would happen to you if I ran into the wrong hands.” “Well, we need not fear anymore, we are in this together.” The best friends hugged themselves tightly. “There is no one I would rather fulfil destiny with. I am glad we are in this together.” Whispered Mimi.
