Chapter 17: Kai Joins For Breakfast

Kai’s POV

I’m walking towards the dining room while toweling off my hair. I had the water extra hot today because Lisanna decided to rub up against me after my morning training session. I about scrubbed myself raw because her touch disgusted both me and Titan. ‘I need a protein shake.’ I thought to myself. Something cold after a hot shower always tastes great. Riley usually prefers strawberry milk or milk tea after her long baths.

I hear Raven and my brothers as I get closer. I didn’t know that they were here. I wondered what brought them to the Royal Moon pack. As they mostly stick close to the Raven Moon pack. Nowadays, it seems like I only see my siblings whenever I return home to visit our parents or they attend any of the mating gatherings that Riely and I attend with Gabriel.

I let my towel hang over my shoulders as I open the door to the dining room. The first thing that catches my attention is the most beautiful set of multicolored eyes that I saw not too long ago. Then it was like chaos broke loose.

Alpha Philip’s son covers the eyes of both the beta’s daughter and the girl that I was staring at. He let out a low protective growl. While my brothers burst out laughing and my sisters both growled out at me. “Kai! How many times have we told you that you can not just walk around the pack house half naked? You know what your body does to females.” Raven growled as she shrugged off her sweater and used it to try and cover my chest.

That was when I realized that I was in such a daze that I walked out of my room in one basketball shorts… and they were hanging pretty low on my hips. I coughed out before giving the young alpha a short bow. “My apologies. I didn’t know we had guests.” I said before I turned on my heels and dashed back towards my room. Weaving around Aunt Melody and her mates in the process.

I didn’t stop until I got back inside my room. Locking the door, I start to pace. Catching sight of myself in the mirror, I realised that I am blushing… and big time. If this were one of those anime that Riley and Raven love to watch, then I would have steam coming from my ears while my nose bled ungodly amounts of blood.

“What is that girl doing to me?” I wondered as I also noticed another issue I have, and one that is very noticeable in loose basketball shorts. ‘I don’t know why she affects us like this, but I would suggest wearing underwear before you leave. Jeans don’t seem to be comfortable if that girl continues to have this effect on us.’ Titan warned. I growled as I knew he was right.

How can one girl affect me so much when I have never been swayed before? I have always only wanted my goddess given mate, but this girl throws me for a loop. I don’t even really know who she is, other than that she is from the Starlight pack. I grumble as I dress and head back towards the dining room. I’m wearing a fitted black shirt with black jeans and boots.

When I get back. I notice that everyone is seated around, and the only open seat is right across from the girl who has captured my attention as of late. “Ah. Kai. Thank you for getting more clothes on. I would hate for Raven and Riley to have to hurt more staff because they came after you.” Uncle Drake teased. I groaned in annoyance. Like I needed the reminder. Aunt Melody had to fire three maids last year because each one had tried to drug me in one form or another so that they could have their way with me and mark me as their mate.

Raven and Riley nearly killed them. It is not that I would have any issues dealing with females myself. It is just that when there is such a big power difference with the females in this world compared to Edolas… it gives me a sick feeling.

I looked across that table to the girl who had been on my mind constantly. I noticed that she was wearing one of my old hoodies that Riley swiped from me years ago. I like knowing she was wearing something of mine. “I’m Kai Jackman. One of the head trainers at the academy and the royal family’s personal bodyguard.” I said as a way of introduction. I need to hear her speak or, at the very least, know her name. I can’t keep calling her the girl in my head.

She takes a drink of juice before she answers me. “I’m Karisma Wright. Alpha Philip’s adoptive daughter.” She said. Her voice was sweet and made Titan almost purr in the back of my head. I wanted to know absolutely everything about Karisma Wright.

“She will be taking the transfer test with Zezar later today.” Uncle Luca said. “Transfer test?” I asked. Looking away from Karisma towards him. “Yes. We have some issues to take care of with the Moonlight Rose pack. You, Riley, Jessie, and Star will be going there to keep things calm in the pack while their alpha and beta families are here for the trial.” He added.

I was momentarily confused until I remembered the documents that Riley and I went over late last night. Turns out the alpha of the Moonlight Rose pack has been discriminating against hybrids and their parents. Going against the Alpha Kings' Law about the discrimination between the other races of the supernatural world.

I knew in the beginning, there were a lot of alphas who thought werebears and vampires were below them, so that has made things very tense for everyone. We thought that after holding so many meetings, the packs would be more open-minded. Honestly, Uncle Jeremiah thought that the vampires would be harder to control since they had more free rage to move around… but they have not been so bad.

Sure, we have a good number of them renounced their loyalties to the crown and have become rogue vampires, but even as rogues, they have not caused issues for those who have accepted the new world order.

“Even through adoption, Karisma is the second child of Alpha Philip. She went to the human school that was between her pack and the Moonlight Rose pack. It also has human students, so it was supposed to be neutral territory between the two packs.” Aunt Moldey said. “I can not believe the audacity of Alpha Damien and his beta to allow their pack members to torment Karisma and constantly push her into a corner.” She growled.

“Father has never liked it either, but until the beta turned it physical, there was not much we could have done.” The young alpha said, tightening his fist around his fork. Karisma put her hand over his. “We can not control how others think, Jason.” She said in a calming tone. The girl on her other side slammed her hands on the table. “But it isn’t right, Kari! Even some of our own pack members are starting to think that you are the reason for so many rogues, whether it be werewolves or vampires; they think it is because of you. It is not fair.” She said, tears filling her eyes.

It is obvious to anyone at this table that the ranked members of the Starlight pack and their families truly love and care for this child that they took in. Though it pisses me off that others take it out on her. She is starting to sound more and more like Riley. Riley always shouldered everything with a smile. She knew she had the strength to put anyone in the ground, but she always took the high road. I knew that she and my sisters would be the best of friends.

“So she will be transferring to the academy and most likely be with you and Riley.” Aunt Melody told me. Looking back towards Karisma, she smiled. “I can sense that your wolf is strong. You are far stronger than you let on. You just need the proper guidance.” She said. Karisma looked down at her plate and poked at her food. It seems that she didn’t really believe everything Aunt Melody was saying… but I can see it.

I may not know her very well, but I will make it very clear to her that she is not weak. I can sense it too. She is strong. She also has a very kind and caring heart. She will know her true worth by the time I and done with her. To be honest, I don’t know if I would ever truly be done with her. Though I plan to find out.
