Karisma's POV
The first half of the day was not so bad. Most people didn’t change their stance on whether they liked me or not, but their gazes all told me that they were interested in finding out more. I felt like the new flavor that everyone wanted to try, but they were all too scared to be the first one to take the first bite.
That was until gym class. We had a sub, and to my dismay, it was Beta Park of the Moonlight Rose pack. His daughter and her group got to sit out for not ‘feeling well’, but everyone else got stuck doing laps. Though for some reason, I didn’t see them in the stands. That is where students who couldn’t participate in class were supposed to sit during class, unless they were really in bad shape, then they would be in the nurse's office or be sent home.
Werewolves got the longer routes while humans got the shorter ones. I ran a little faster than the rest to get some alone time in the forest. I enjoyed the forest during the daytime. Sometimes it was nice to clear my mind.
I felt a burning sting as something latched onto my leg. Pain raced up my leg as I fell forward and faceplanted on the ground. I could hear the laughter before I even lifted my head.
My ankle burned and hurt so bad when I tried to wiggle my toes… but I didn’t cry out. A big hand grabs my ponytail and yanks my head back, hard.
“Look what we caught, Tessa. A pathetic mutt that doesn’t know how to stay in her lane.” Roger said as he ran his nose up the side of my neck. I growled and elbowed him in the gut. He let out a breath as he let go of my hair. I looked up in time for Tessa to smack me across the face.
“Where does a filthy rogue like you get off thinking you can be something special?” She hissed.
“For real? I mean, you think having a makeover during spring break is something special?” Another girl from their group asked. I didn’t know their names, nor did I care.
I glared hard at Tessa before looking down at my foot. They laid a f*****g silver trap for me. Its teeth are biting into my skin, and blood is pooling on the ground. Thankfully, it was my left foot and not my right, as the silver teeth would have probably broken my ankle charm.
What the hell were they going to do if I didn’t run ahead of the others? This was point-blank dangerous.
I looked back at Tessa and spat in her face. She was a pathetic excuse for a beta’s daughter. She only used her title to bully those she saw as beneath her. I lifted myself to my knees. I ignored the pain in my ankle and looked at every one of them. I was memorizing their faces.
“You think I am stepping out of my lane?” I asked.
Looking at Roger, I then to the trap around my ankle. I grabbed the silver teeth and ripped them apart. Freeing my ankle. It was bleeding pretty badly, but I could still feel my toes, so it wasn’t broken.
Roger growled and went to swing at me. I caught his hand and twisted it up behind him, putting his face into the ground.
“Then what the hell do you call a bunch of scumbag ankle bitters who set traps up in the woods… traps, I mind you, that anyone could have fallen into?” I questioned as I twisted his arm some more.
Roger yelled out. I heard something coming up from behind me and turned just in time to see Beta Park running towards us. Instead of talking to us and trying to figure out what was going on… He grabbed my shoulder and flung me away from Roger. I slammed into a nearby tree.
“What the f**k do you think you are doing? Attacking another student, and a gamma’s son at that, those are grounds for expulsion.” Beta Park growled. I snarled back along with my wolf this time.
“Then what the hell do you call wounding an alpha’s daughter with a silver trap?” I barked out.
Beta Park looked at the trap on the ground, which was covered in my blood, and then at me. He scoffed in disgust.
“You are no alpha’s daughter.” He snarled.
I was tired of people saying that. Adopted or not, I was still a part of the alpha family in the Starlight Pack. I grabbed a rock close to me and threw it at the beta, nailing him in the nose.
He howled in pain before his yell turned into growls. The familiar sound of breaking bones and tearing flesh filled the air. Roger and Tessa backed up as they laughed at me.
“You pissed off the wrong wolf, bitch.” Roger called out.
“Daddy is going to tear you apart, limb by limb.” Tessa said with glee.
I used the tree to stand up I could feel Angela healing my ankle. I may not be able to shift into my wolf, but I was still a damn good fighter. Uncle Grant and Uncle Eric trained me themselves. They knew I was going to have a hard time and wanted me to be able to protect myself. I was going to stand my ground and give this beta everything I got. Even if the odds were not in my favor.
The beta shifts into a muddy brown wolf. Growling and snarling at me. I glare right back at him as I mind-link Jace. ‘Jace, confrontation with the beta in gym class. Call Papa.’ That is all I get to him before the beta lunges at me. I leap out of the way. Rolling and then spinning around. I don’t want the beta behind me.
He is the biggest threat, and Uncle Grant said to always know where the biggest threat is located at all times. Roger and Tessa don’t bother me. Especially since I know Tessa is not a fighter. The beta snaps at me as he lunges again.
I doge again. I can see that he is getting more and more pissed off that he is missing me, than he was for me hitting him with the rock. I feel Winter trying to come forward, but I force her back down. ‘Let me take over.’ Angela said. It caught me off guard that my vampire side made such a request, because she has never once taken control or asked for it until now.
I feel Angela pushing forward, so I guess I would just have to trust her on this one. Soon, I was seeing things through her eyes.
