Riley’s POV
I came here to get a look at the girl that Raven said was looking at Kai, but I was not expecting her to be a vampire who could walk in the sunlight. ‘Vampire?’ I wondered again as the girl opened her eyes and looked back at me.
Her eyes went from a blood red with green swirls to a deep forest green with violet mixed in. I sniffed the air and noted that her scent was that of a regular werewolf. It confused me even more. Was she a hybrid? Those can be answered later. For now, I must make sure war does not break out between these two packs. I can not recall the names of the other packs in this territory, but I do know Alpha Philip and his pack.
I look at both alphas. “Until this matter is settled, you and your pack members will be confined to your pack lands. Those who attend this school as students or staff will be given temporary leave. I will send replacements for the staff from my pack as soon as I return.” I said.
The last thing I need is for more pack members to start egging each other on and causing more fights to break out. Alpha Philip glared over at the other pack’s beta. “What about their Beta? He attacked my daughter, and even though she is not of my blood, she is mine. I would like to see him properly punished for his actions, Lady Riley.” He said. “Papa.” The girl said in a soft tone.
I could see he loves his daughter, even if they are not by blood. It reminds me of my own fathers, who now care and cherish me since I was only 10. I look towards the other alpha and give him a cold look. “You are to place both your beta and your gamma’s son in your cells until this matter is settled. Failure to do as you have been commanded will result in far more consequences coming towards your pack.” I tell him. Not using my alpha tone, but still making it clear what I want.
“Why must they be in the cells? That brat is the one who injured them?” He questions. I let out a low growl. “I don’t have to explain it to you, but if you want to question it… Fine, I will humor you.” I said, turning to face him directly and allowing more of my aura to come forward.
“A silver trap and a silver dagger are what I picked up, yet neither your beta nor the gamma’s son was bleeding. I healed their broken bones and dislocated joints, but do tell me, ‘Alpha’, who is the one that is bleeding here?” I said. He glanced around, and I could tell when he landed on the girl’s bloodied leg. The only reason I didn’t heal her off the bat was because I didn’t want to seal any silver in her body.
Allowing the wound to bleed will help flush out any silver that was around the wound itself, but for any silver that flows through her bloodstream right now, it will need to be flushed out at the pack hospital.
I looked back at the alpha. “I am taking her since she is clearly strong enough to handle a beta, but I am pretty sure that your pack will also have to answer for what happened to Alpha Philip’s daughter.” I said. I heard someone scoff from the side of us. I turned to see an average female crossing her arms. She glares at me as if I were a mere insect.
“That thing is not even a true-blooded alpha. Alpha Philip just took in a stray. I’m not even sure that she is a werewolf to begin with. Seeing how her eyes turned a blood red, I would not be surprised if the Starlight pack falsified her records.” She said with a harsh glare.
I internally rolled my eyes because this is nothing more than a spoiled girl who is used to getting what she wants and is trying to shift the blame towards Alpha Philip’s pack. I look over at her with a cold expression. “It is not my place to decide punishment right now. I am settling the matter and then taking it to the Alpha King and Luna Queen. It will then be investigated, and only then will appropriate actions be taken.” I said.
I then ignored her and turned to her alpha. “I expect you to follow my orders… because if they are not within your cells when I send someone over to confirm it, then you will be held in the royal cells for going against someone of a higher rank than you. Do I make myself clear, Alpha?” I look him dead in the eyes.
He grits his teeth, but then bows his head to me. “I fully understand, Miss. Riley. It will be handled.” I nod and then turn back towards the girl. She is hugging Alpha Philip and comforting him. “I will be ok, Papa. We have to trust our king and queen to be fair.” I heard her whisper. Alpha Philip grumbled. “I trust them, I just don’t like that you are being taken away like you were the criminal.”
Before I could say anything. I felt the familiar pushing within my mind. Someone was trying to mindlink me. I opened up my mind and heard my brother’s voice. ‘Riley, we need to head to Edolas for an emergency beast hunt. Some hell flame grizzlies are going on a rampage too close to a village.’ He said.
‘Understood, brother. I will meet up with you within a few moments.’ I said before closing my mind. I look over to the girl and hold out my hand. “I am needed back at the pack, so we should be getting on our way.” I said with a smile. The girl gives Alpha Philip one last hug and then comes over to me. “I am needed back in a hurry, so please hold my hand while I use a teleportation stone.” I told her as I grabbed one of the stones I always have on me out of my pocket.
Teleportation stones were something that Uncle Parker and Uncle Esstarossa created. They allow you to teleport to any destination that is carved into the stone. Since Kai and I travel a lot for pack business, we always keep at least one stone on us. This stone has my bedroom engraved on it. I will just have to return to the school grounds later to get my car.
Once the girl took my hand, I crushed the stone in my other hand. Within the blink of an eye, light and wind swirled around the two of us, and once they died down, we were in my bedroom back at the Royal Moon packhouse. I let go of the girl’s hand and faced her. “I am sorry that I have to leave you, but I will have someone come and tend to your leg.” I told her. She nodded before looking around the room.
“And you will be staying here until Lady Melody has made her decision about your case, so you will be locked in, and I would advise you to try not to escape.” I said. She looked back at me and bowed her head. “I would not think of it. I have nothing to hide, Miss. Riley. Do as you must.” She said before limping over to my desk and chair.
I silently nod and then turn. Mindlinking the pack doctor to come and tend to her while I head to the garden to meet up with my elder brother for the beast hunt. She seems like such a sweet girl, and I hope things can be resolved quickly. Because something inside of me is telling me to protect this girl as if she were one of my own sisters.
