Anna has tried to ask a couple of times, but Layla shuts it down every time and in the process she seems to completely shut down so it seemed easier not to ask, but this is different.

Anna notices how grumpy her son is and since she is unlikely to get what she came for she disappears quickly.
Jake pulls out his phone and texts Layla.
At school, Layla's phone on the table receives a text. Josh looks at it and unlocks the phone with Layla's fingerprint.
'Angel, I am so sorry I shouldn't have mentioned it. I will come and pick you up after school'
Josh laughs.
"Well, it's a lovers tiff, I was wondering what was wrong with her. Turns out it is just trouble in paradise"
