The race track was big and dull. The smoothened road wrapped around and through giant mundane fixtures. It seemed pretty straight forward. Dezzy thumb smacked her phone in search of the right car for their race. It was a water theme called, The Blue Falls. A go-kart road out with a winged kitty driving. The fluffy cat flapped its wings a flew away.
"Let's go and win this thing," said Dezzy, "Now remember, all you have to do is stay strapped to your tiny seat in the back and rotate around to shoot things. Oh, and if you get scared, just rotate the other way".
Seeing that Vanessa shrugged off the track as a joke, Dezzy reminded her to take these two races seriously. Vanessa nodded her head and sat in her seat. The g*n was quite different than any other she'd used in the past. It felt like wielding a giant toy or perhaps some doom machine built in a garage. Dezzy hopped into her seat which was a bit lower to allow the gunner to shoo towards the front.
Bright green arrows on the ground directed Dezzy where to drive. A sharp turn led to a dark tunnel. The only light was the arrows that continued to direct. The smell became refreshing as though they were on the ocean.
Wheels on their go-kart turned sideways. The vehicle itself was now floating. Vanessa could even feel her body turn weightless. Thin drops of water reminded her that she was still near land. Or so she thought. They drove closer towards the end. A light shined, blessing Vanessa with hope. They got closer, revealing nothing but the sky.
"Don't get scared Vanessa!" yelled Dezzy with her cheeky smile. "And remember, for this race we only need points. So f**k s**t up".
They got in a line to the #1 position in an 8 man race. Vanessa took note of their competition being a bear, owl, rabbit, reindeer, dragon, fox, and rat. Each was in their own vehicle accompanied by a miniature version of themself on the g*n.
Dezzy danced and flirted with each of the animals. She was an oddball. One minute you wouldn't hear her say a word. The next she wouldn't shut up and probably flirt with every guy and girl. The animals being raced against were in fact images of her stuffed animals, AKA her bestest friends.
The flying cat from earlier came to the front with a flag. Dezzy revved her go-kart. The cat waved the flag a few times before aiming it down. Dezzy flew off her starting line.
It seemed like they were going to jump into midair. Obviously, no game would possibly do that thought, Vanessa.
They exited what appeared to be an electrical hot-air-balloon into the sky. The car rode smoothly down the track. Walls along the outside of the track kept players from falling. Green arrows on them indicated each turn.
The track swirled downward, giving a view of a bay.
"Vanessa!" yelled Dezzy, snapping her out of her daze.
A book slammed into the back of their go-kart.
Dezzy began yelling about her owl, "Buggy of all people f*****g passed us! And now we're in last f*****g place! Shoot them dammit"!
She turned into a speed lane that shot them through a giant ring. It gave them many points, which had little effect on Dezzy's mood.
Vaness shot at the owl three times before running out of ammo. All three hits missed.
Dezzy yelled, "You're gonna have to shoot better than that! f**k".
A sharp turn came. Dezzy missed the good lane going up but managed to grab a power stone. The small screen on the g*n flashed through many potential power-ups. It stopped on "ammo X 5".
Vanessa spun her g*n, watching how the other drivers drove. The unpredictability of their own go-kart that came from zoning in on the g*n made it difficult. She had to also make sure she kept the g*n angles appropriately.
Her first shot misses by a foot. Dezzy's toes curled anticipating her partner's shooting. Vanessa's next shot struck the owl directly, sending it spinning into a far off wall.
The lane curved, exposing the bear and the rat. Vanessa exhausted her last 3 shots within seconds. The bear took a hit, but the rat swerved away.
It laid out a trail of bananas that Dezzy managed to dodge. She jolted to the other side of the track just in time to dodge a boomerang.
As Dezzy hit another speed up lane, the boomerang hit the rat.
The lanes were reconnecting and many of the fast lane takers were back on track. A line of power-ups sat in front. The players began slamming their cars in from of each other to grab a potential game-changer.
Unfortunately, Dezzy landed in a red lane that was slowly pulling them back. The bear welcomed her with a shot that sent them further into the red lane.
Dezzy released her rocket power-up to speed into the green lane, bumping past the bear. They sped through two water rings for the points and joined the leading half of the race.
The furry flying cat from earlier flew by with a sign that said, "Lap 2".
Lightning struck everybody from above. They all slowed down the coming downward slope.
"f**k you, Buggy," said Dezzy as she began going down the chaotic track.
Sharp turn after another. On a track that curved on one side just to lead into another, the players raced. Water was hitting harder than before.
The track split into two. One was at a direct 45-degree angle. The other underneath was filled with turns and other oddities.
Dezzy slammed her go-kart in front of the reindeer to make it to the good lane. The wide-eye dragon activated an invincibility booster, causing it to glow in many colors, and ran through the players.
It knocked Dezzy into her preferred track and lost control of its speed, going into the slow track.
She didn't cheer nor shouted slander. Instead, Dezzy picked up the speed into a power-up.
The rabbit came from behind, trying to smash her off course. She skidded her go-kart a bit, leading the rabbit to hit a crab.
With no power-up on her screen, Vanessa watched the reindeer take aim at them.
Just as the bang from the reindeer's g*n released, a glowing kitty orbited the girl's go-kart. Dezzy slammed into the reindeer as well as the fox ahead of them.
The water brushed higher, feeling like a shield. They were in first place, allowing Vanessa to enjoy the thrill and the scene. The blue comforted her as though it was all okay.
The track smoothened from its 45-degree angle into a flat track loaded with water. They were shot out like a bullet into mid-air.
They flew through three rings, that Vanessa didn't notice. She felt herself falling, yet rising in the air. Her life was coming to an end. If only life itself could make up its mind on how or when this fall was going to happen.
It came, and the two girls fell down to a small platform. If only Dezzy slowed the f**k down Vanessa could've caught her breath.
Instead, Dezzy raced against the falling water to jump to different platforms. Each jump threw them through the air onto the next. Sure they hit a few spheres, but Vanessa's head was feeling a little faint to notice.
The fluffy kitty flew by informing it was the final lap. They took one last leap onto a giant track that slowly fell down. They were halfway across the track before it began flooding with water.
Luckily the track was a little lumpy, enabling Dezzy to drive on certain parts to avoid slow driving. A few rings were missed, but a power-up was gained.
They took a ramp, leading to a jump on another track. A missile struck them from behind that nearly knocked them off the track.
The dragon and the fox drove by while they were still bouncing.
"Fuuuuck," said Dezzy while picking her speed back up.
The rat, rabbit and bear flew past them as well. Vanessa shot the bear, allowing Dezzy to pass him. The bear threw a bomb that landed on the rat.
The track led into a tunnel. Vanessa shot forward hitting the rabbit. Dezzy raced through a few rings. After the rabbit finished bouncing it was still ahead.
Vanessa shot it again to keep it down.
The tunnel slanted greatly to the left. Dezzy was unphased, focusing on getting to the lead. As soon as the bear crept its way near, Vanessa shot him far back.
She turned towards the front, looking for the leading racers. The tunnel ended with a line of power-ups, leading to a narrow track filled with water.
The walls were thick and high. Dezzy activated the speed booster to catch up. The track led downwards. The water was going just as fast as any go-kart.
The finish line was seen and both the dragon and fox raced through. Dezzy remained calm finishing in 3rd place.
Vanessa was disappointed in losing the match. Dezzy popped some bubble gum waiting for the flying kitty to tally up their score.
"Thank god we made it," said Dezzy looking up at their successful score.
To Vanessa's surprise, a light came from the kitty granting them synergy. Obviously, they didn't need to win when the mission was entirely score based.
Dezzy drove her cart into an exit, refusing to lose the adrenaline of their first race. Vanessa was a little shocked, yet happy they got what they needed. But for the next race, they needed to take first place.
