My heart sanked as I watched Anna walk away. The pain of seeing her hurt was almost unbearable. I desperately wanted her to believe me, to understand that what she saw was not the truth. I wanted to hold her close and explain that I had never betrayed her.
In a moment of desperation, I ordered the guards to stop her from passing through the main gate, hoping that I could at least have a chance to talk to her. However, I knew deep down that I couldn't force her to stay or to talk to me. The guards hesitated, torn between their loyalty to me as their Alpha and their duty to obey their Luna.
