Annabel's POV Saturday came faster than I expected. I stood in front of my closet for twenty minutes trying to pick an outfit that said, I’m not obsessing, I’m just casually attractive and effortlessly fine. Which, spoiler alert, doesn’t exist. Eventually I threw on a cropped hoodie and high-waisted jeans. Lisa approved with a thumbs-up and a knowing smirk. The outdoor court was already packed by the time we got there. Not main-game packed, but enough that the air was buzzing. Students were sprawled across benches and curbs, some holding iced coffees or snacks from the food truck parked nearby. Phones were out. Some people were cheering, others just vibing to the beat of someone’s playlist blasting from a speaker wedged between two backpacks. Lisa nudged me with her elbow. “You okay?”
