Annabel’s POV We both exited the car, and he led me into the house. The inside felt warm, and the first thing that hit me was the scent of roasted chicken drifting in from somewhere down the hall. For some reason, I could feel some kind of tension inside. We soon heard footsteps, and suddenly, an average-height woman appeared from the hallway almost as soon as we stepped in. She had smooth brown skin and large brown eyes and wore just a touch of makeup: mascara and maybe a little gloss. Her blonde hair was pulled back in a sleek bun, and her blouse was perfectly pressed.
