Annabel’s POV The clink of silverware on porcelain was the only sound for a few minutes. Even the way it echoed felt sharper than it should have, like the whole room was on edge and every slight noise just reminded you of it. Justin kept his gaze locked on his plate, his shoulders tight, and his jaw clenched like he was grinding down words before they could escape. I could tell. He was holding back.
