They have been at this for hours, Mikaela thought as she breathed hard. Her whole body hurt from leaping and dodging moving objects and very scary animals. Her palms were bleeding from using too much of her magic. She was bone tired, and there seemed to be no end in sight. She had somehow caught up with Rose and the other witches. She hasn’t seen Haile yet. She must be ahead of them, Mikaela thought.
Haile was determined to win this. At this point Mikaela didn’t care. The zenith level felt like a torture chamber she wanted out of. She didn’t see how her power was growing by facing life threatening situations. Now, they were in a mountainous area. The ground was uneven and rocky.
