Present Day Celia had tried to apologize to Darcy for leaving her in a lurch yesterday and being late today, but Darcy wouldn’t hear it. “You work here seven days a week,” Darcy said with a wave of her hand. “You can take a day off every now and then. The kitchen won’t burn down.” Still, Celia couldn’t shake the guilt. She hated shirking her duties. Darcy had pressed for details about Lucas, but Celia had kept mostly quiet. She had enjoyed her afternoon and evening with him, even if he’d left her rather sore.
