The pack hall was packed as every wolf in Nelion had somehow gathered to hear what I had to say. Their faces were a mixture of curiosity and worry and in some cases some had barely concealed hostility. The elders who had supported Julius were huddled near the back trying to hide away.
I stood at the head of the hall, where the Alpha’s chair was and Iris was beside me, her hand in mine. She had insisted on being here, even though I had offered to do this alone. "If we're leading this pack together," she had said, "then we face them together."
