RONAN
I would have preferred to spend the rest of my morning teasing Iris but duty called. After breakfast, I dropped Lily at my parents' house with a kiss on her forehead and a promise to return before dinner. She was already running off to the play area my dad had built for her behind the house, leaving me with my mother.
"Can’t believe she is the same pup that you brought home that one day," my mother said, watching Lily disappear around the corner. "You are doing so well with her, Ronan. I am proud of you son."
"Thanks, Mom." I said as I kissed her cheek. "I'll be back later."
"Give our regards to your... guest." The slight pause before guest told me exactly what my mother thought of Iris's presence in my house. She was too polite to say more, but I could read between the lines. L
