I was still riding the high of our first breakthrough with Ronan when Matthew called a few days later.
"I want to try something," he said. "I think it could accelerate his recovery significantly. But I need your permission first."
"What is it?" I had asked, my heart already racing.
"I want to change his sedative to something slightly stronger," he said. " It won't put him to sleep, but he will be conscious and make him more accessible to his human side. It would give you a better chance of actually connecting with him than last time."
"Is it safe?" I had asked.
"For him? Yes. For you? Even more," Matthew said and I agreed immediately.
