Axel's pale skin was almost translucent in the dim light of the tower, making the black letters of the curse pop even more harshly on his body. Though he shivered fiercely, he was covered in sweat as he let out a painful moan. I wrung my wrists, standing beside his bed. Finally, the knock came at the door. I flew across the small room, and opened the wooden panel. On the other side, a young maid bowed as she handed me a basket. Her hair was a common brown shade, and her eyes a dark  blue.
