Corinna's POV
I was lying on the bed, shivering and fearing the future. My wolf tried to calm me down by reminding me that the Alpha was our mate, which meant he would never let anyone take us. However, when the door opened and I caught a whiff of his intoxicating yet calming scent, a surge of terror rushed over me.
He came to my side and sat on the bed with me. He probably noticed my trembling as he pressed his palm against my forehead, gently checking my temperature. He sighed and then left for a moment, but returned shortly. I wasn’t surprised to hear Jane entering the room soon after.
“The bath is ready, Alpha,” she said.
He nodded, and after carefully ensuring the cover wouldn’t slip off, he gently lifted me and carried me to the bathroom.
