Chapter Forty-One “Abby, are you okay?” He asked through the locked door. He listened to the tumblers as she turned the lock. Eli could smell the salt of her unshed tears as she peeked at him through the cracked door, her wet eyes glaring at him. “I don’t have time to do this, Eli.” She said, her voice thick like she was trying to hold in her emotions. “Abby, please,” Eli pleaded with her. She closed the door and undid the chain before opening the door for him. Pushing open the door she stepped to the side so that he could walk past her. Once he was inside, she closed the door and turned away from him. Heading quickly back towards her room with Eli hot on her heels. “I really don’t have time for this, Eli.
