2| CHAPTER TWO

Trick has been raising Amaira for thirteen years, and it has been a lot of work, but he has done an amazing job, just as he promised the day he brought her to his house.

Amaira received all of the love she needed as a baby from her family and the rest of the pack, who treated her like one of their own and spoiled her rotten.

She never lacked anything, went to an incredible preschool, one of the best elementary schools in the country, and is now attending their town's best werewolf junior high school.

Many people believe she is the daughter of an Alpha, while others believe she is simply a relative. Amaira never says anything because no one ever asks her. No one even spoke about it at home.

To be honest, she also doesn't know the correct answers to those questions. She never asked Trick if she was his daughter or a relative because she didn't care and didn't want to know the answer as she got older.

She's always been concerned about what he'll say and how it will affect her life. She has never been ignorant, and as a result, she recognizes that she is distinct from the others.

She has all of their characteristics, indicating that she is a werewolf like them, but she is not the same as them. Despite the fact that she is a Jackson, she is unsure if she is a Jackson by blood or just on paper.

She has always had a crush on Trick for as long as she can remember. She enjoyed being around him even as a child, and he always brought her with him everywhere he went. If she asked, he never denied her anything.

Even though she was always happy to be with him, as she got older, she realised it was putting her in a tight spot whenever there was a woman who was interested in him.

When she was in preschool, she enjoyed the attention. Many girls came to her if they wanted to get close to him, and that meant she could ask for anything in return, and she loved those moments.

When she realised she had a crush on him, she didn't want any of them near him. It made her furious, and sometimes she even wished she could kill them, which is something a young girl her age shouldn't even have to think about.

Even though she really didn't have a choice, she decided to spend a little time with Trick than she usually did and cut her travelling with him to a minimum in case she ended up killing girls literally.

"What are you doing here all by yourself? I thought you were packing." She slowly turned her head to look at her best friend.

"Why? I'm not going to be staying near the school and you know that. I am used to living in this house. I don't think I can cope in another house. "

And Trick agreed to drive me to school every day, so why would I miss that opportunity?

She didn't say that out loud because she didn't want Hope to ask her a lot of questions.

"Well, I thought you would be going with the Alpha to Mexico. You always go with him when he is travelling far and I thought today wasn't an exception."

Mexico? He never said anything about travelling to Mexico to me. I know it is not a must for him to tell me wherever he goes, but he always does, ever since I was a baby.

"Why do you look like you had no idea? Can it be that he didn't tell you?"

She wanted to deny it, but then again, she didn't want to lie to her best friend, so she just shook her head. She didn't understand why Trick didn't tell her and she was also hurt because she didn't know what changed.

"I'll go and see him. I'm sure she has a reason for not saying anything." She didn't wait for her to say anything as she went back to the mansion.

She went straight to his bedroom and he was there, his suitcase next to his bed. She didn't even realise he was only wearing pants and no shirt since she barged in without notice and in a hurry.

"Um... sorry, I'll come back later." She turned to leave, but he was next to her in seconds. She couldn't dare look at him because she was sure that she was blushing.

She didn't want Trick to know that she was crushing on him. She couldn't afford that embarrassment, so she just kept her eyes down, which she didn't even notice was very unusual for her.

Trick couldn't hide his smile when he saw that she was affected by his presence. His little mate was growing up and that meant his days of waiting were slowly coming to an end.

"I was actually waiting for you." He told her as he held her hand and brought her back to the room, closing the door behind them.

He motioned for her to sit in his bed and he crouched in front of her. She still avoided meeting his eyes.

"What's wrong, Kitten? You've been avoiding me lately and now you won't even look at me." When he saw that she wasn't going to say anything, he took his t-shirt and put it on.

"It's safe now, you can look at me." She slowly raised her eyes and looked at him.

"Now tell me, what's wrong with you lately? I didn't do anything to upset you did I?" He wondered if that was the case.

"No, um... nothing is wrong. I just wanted to give you some space." What the fuck for? Trick wanted to ask that but then he swore never to curse in front of her.

"Why? Who said I needed space? And besides, even if I did need some space, you know I will always have time to spend with you. You are always on my schedule, no matter how busy that schedule is."

Of course Amaira knew all of that but it was also one of the reasons she wanted to stay away from him as she could.

"I know that and everybody does. That is the reason why every girl who wants you always come to me first. They practically use me to be close to you."

"I thought you enjoyed that? You've always sold me out to the highest bidder, remember?" And it always annoyed Trick to the core.

It always hurt him that his own mate was the one who was throwing him to other women but what made him even angrier was that they were using her! No one had a right to use her! No one!

"That was before..." Trick was sure that his eyes were sparkling red in an instant because he didn't have to hear what she was going to say to know what she meant. He still played dumb though because he wanted to tease her.

"Before what?" He smiled at her innocently and the colour in her cheeks deepened.

He was right, his mate was growing up to an adult and even though it felt like it was taking forever, he was glad that it was happening.

Her thirteenth birthday was in a week which meant she was going to shift. He couldn't wait to finally meet her wolf and to tell her the truth.

He has always been grateful to her for not asking questions because he knew he was never going to lie to her and he also didn't want to complicate her life.

No matter how old Amaira grew, the fact that he is twenty-two years older than her was not going to change. He turned thirty-five a few months ago and she will be turning thirteen.

He wasn't the only werewolf who was older than her mate but his situation was worse. Usually, the gap would be at least ten years or below but not more than that. Normal pairings didn't have any gap or a one or two year gap.

When he saw that she was looking at his suitcase, he decided to change the subject.

"I know you have questions but why are you here? Do you want something?"

"I heard that you are going to Mexico and I wanted to ask you if it's true."

"I wanted to tell you but you've been avoiding me lately. I have a business meeting tomorrow and I will be attending a mating ceremony and a wedding of one of the alphas in Mexico.

"I wanted to ask you to come with me but then I remembered that your birthday is approaching."

"You're not gonna be here for my birthday? But you've never missed any of my birthdays." Trick didn't like how her voice sounded like when she said that. He cupped her cheeks.

"Look at me." She did as he asked. "I have never missed your birthday and it's not gonna start now. Like I told you before, you are always on my schedule no matter how busy that schedule is. Okay?"

She nodded her head. "Okay."

"Your thirteenth birthday is different from the others. There are lots of changes that are going to be happening to you and I don't want you to experience all those away from home.

"Of course it would be easier if you were next to me because I would take care of your every need but I don't want to take risks.

"What if you need help with something tomorrow while I'm in a meeting? I would never forgive myself if something were to happen to you while you are all alone.

"If you're here then I can be at peace because I know Mom and Dad will take care of you and if you want you can also ask Hope to come over.

"My cousins will be here too from tomorrow and if you need me, I'm just a phone call away." And I will fly all the way from Mexico in an instant if you need me.

"Besides, I also hate it when women take advantage of your innocence to get close to me. No one in this world is qualified to use you, no matter who they are."

The only girl I want in this life is you and nothing is ever going to change that.

Amaira knew that he was doing it for her but she still wanted to go with him. She hated being away from him more than she hated to see girls all around him.

She has seen what happens before a young wolf shift and even though she hated to admit it, it wasn't something anyone wanted to experience alone.

"What if we bring Hope with us? You will be away for a week and I will miss you. I know that you are doing this for my sake but I don't want you to leave me behind."

"I also want you to be the first person I will see on my birthday."

It was very low but he still heard it. He also wanted the same thing but he didn't know if it was the right idea to bring her along.

He will be coming back exactly on the day of her birthday and he wasn't sure about the time when she will have her first shift.

For all he knew, it could be on the jet on their way back and that is not an ideal place for a newly shifted wolf. When a wolf shifts for the first time, it is always in its pack territory.

"I know it is a risk but I still want to go." And just like all the time, he couldn't say no and as a result, he ended up taking her and Hope with him to Mexico.

He was happy that he was with her just like she was happy that he brought her along, but he couldn't stop worrying.

He only hoped he would be with her when it happened.
