When we got back home, Kaji headed back to his and Kaida’s rooms. While I walked down the hallway. It made me long for our previous home. The big windows had let in so much light, and even though the darkness of the situation colored those memories.
I longed to be able to look out the window and see the sky. Being here set my dragon on edge. Logically, I knew why Lucian had chosen this location for our den. It was safe and easily protected.
That didn't make it any easier for me to accept. Deep down, I wanted to go off and find a place of my own. Somewhere where I wouldn't feel the need to fight all the time. I rolled my shoulders, trying to push away the thought. It would never happen. My family needed me and I needed them.
