POV: Darius The moment I stepped into the bedroom, the sight before me made me stop in my tracks. Adriana was bent by my side of the bed, her hand raising my pillow up. And just under it—the dull black gleam of the gun I had kept there a few days ago. Her eyes went wide, her hand raising to her mouth. Fear—pure, raw fear—flashed across her face as she turned toward me at the doorway. “What are you doing?” My voice was calm, but inside me, I was already cursing myself in my head.
