POV: Adriana I let out another long sigh, the kind that felt like it was dragging something heavy out of my chest. Something heavy was actually lodged in my chest. Has been for the past few days. For the past few days, this room had become my whole world because I had been locked in. Not literally locked, because I was the one who had locked myself in. I couldn’t bring myself to step downstairs, not when I knew the looks waiting for me. They all treated me like I was a delicate object that was about to break. And even the maids had this look of pity when ever they saw me. I didn’t want to see any of that. So I stayed here. At least work kept me breathing. I’d convinced myself that designing the collection the team asked for was the reason I stayed in this room… but that was a lie. I
