Chapter Seven

Angelica I heard muffled voices as I opened my heavy eyelids to a blurry white room. Hospital, I thought, unsure as to why I would be in a hospital with a drip in my arm... And I then remembered what happened. "H-hey, what's-" I tried to talk but my throat was too dry. "Angel, honey?" Grandma's worried voice was suddenly next to me. I turned my blurry eyes to the short, delicate, grey-haired woman next to me. I smiled at her to reassure her and she sighed heavily in relief before smiling back at me. "Angel, sweetheart, you gave us such a fright. How are you feeling?" "Fine," I managed to croak. "T-thirsty." Grandma chuckled and called out to someone for a glass of water and a straw. "You can't have too much just yet, sweetheart, just enough." I nodded in response as a nurse gave Grandma a clear glass of water with a straw. She held the straw to my lips and I drank happily, feeling disappointed when she pulled it away. The sudden sound of the door banging open, a shrill scream following. "Ang!" In came rushing Garcia to my bedside, her eyes bloodshot as if she'd been crying. "Oh my God, Angie, are you okay?! We've been so worried! You've been out for two days and I thought you'd never wake up!" I chuckled as Garcia fussed over me, fluffing my pillow and straightening my blanket and asking if I'm hungry or thirsty. "I'm fine, Garcia," I assured her. "I'm just feeling tired." "Then you lay your pretty little head and let the rest of us do the work," she suggested. I shook my head. "I've gotta get up sometimes like you said - I've been out for two days. I need to get up." "I wouldn't be too hasty, Miss Sky," a female voice joined in and the pack doctor waltz in with a folder. She looked at my grandma and Garcia before speaking. "Luna, Miss Garcia, may I speak to Angelica alone? I have her test results back." Grandma gave the doctor a smile before leaving, dragging a reluctant Garcia behind her. I smiled and waved before facing the doctor with a smile. "What's the damage," I joked. The doctor looked at me grimly before speaking. "Before I give you the answers to your tests, I'd like to ask you a few questions, just to confirm. Would that be alright?" I nodded now highly worried. "Good. Now, Angelica, for the past few days, maybe even weeks, have you felt sick at all? Maybe even nauseous and throwing up occasionally?" "I started to feel sick the day I became a part of the pack and it's been on and off ever since, but I thought it was because I'm a little homesick - you know, missing my parents and all." The doctor nodded. "Have you had any cravings at all?" I shook my head, my heart beating irrationally and my stomach turning. Wondering if I had some sort of terminal illness - cancer, heart failure or something. The doctor nodded again, writing something down on the folder. "When was the last time you shifted into your wolf form?" "Two days after I moved here. Ever since then I haven't felt the need to." Oh my Goddess, was my wolf spirit sick too!? The doctor could see my panic and rested her hand on my own, giving me a smile. "One last question, Angelica..." "Y-yes?" She cleared her throat. "When was your last period?" I froze. No! I can't be! But I thought back, way back, I counted the days in my head in a panic and then I realised. I'm late. I'm way, way late, but how could I have not noticed?! I looked at the doctor and she handed me the folder. I gently took it off her and read the blood test results and I gasped, holding a hand over my mouth. I'm pregnant... Oh, Goddess, I'm pregnant with Gabriel's baby!
