I stared at the crumpled DNA test results on my desk. I don't know how long I've been doing that, but there was still light outside my window when I started. It’s dark outside now.
My mind is a mess. I can't believe what just happened today. It was definitely not the result I was expecting. I was feeling confident about it.
I just felt like I was finally doing something right this time.
My chest feels hollow, yet it burns with something I can't even name. Betrayal? Confusion? Desperation? Maybe all of them at once.
How? How the hell is this possible?
