Meeting the tyrants
It was a dark day when Saoirse arrived at the Blue Blood Pack. She looked around curiously. They traveled by carriage because it was more comfortable than running in wolf-form, and less messy, of course. Their father demanded that they show the Blue Blood Pack's Alphas that the Red Moon Pack was just as noble, despite being smaller.
She always considered her home a beautiful place, but she had to admit this land was much bigger and richer.
While they passed the fields, every single working werewolf stopped and bowed to the carriage, showing their respect to the upper class. Even though that was a rule in her pack as well, it always gave her a bad feeling.
Her two brothers, Keith and Haye, joked and played happily while they traveled, but that was still better than staying at home with her parents. Keith was her oldest brother, he was twenty-one, and Haye was nineteen.
Their dad sent them for a visit only. He always said how important it is to keep a good relationship between packs. His space was enormous enough to not let him worry, but he still said in the case of an attack they have to have friends who they can ask to help them.
After they left the fields, she just looked out of the window quietly. Her mind was on her life. All the things that happened around her, her father's commands, her mother's excitement, gave her a bad feeling. She knew that as a she-wolf she did not count too much, but she still hoped that her parents would never force her to do anything she did not want.
“Keith! What the hell are you doing?” She shouted at her brother, who had just fallen on her in the carriage.
They laughed.
“Saoirse, why are you so serious all the time?” Keith asked, while he made sure his sister did not get hurt.
“Don’t touch me, I’m fine.” She shouted angrily. Keith put his hands up.
“Okay, sis, don’t kill me.”
“Saoirse, just make sure you look great. This visit is very important… Ouch!” He could not finish the sentence as his brother kicked him. Saoirse’s eyes widened.
“What did you want to say, Haye?”
“Nothing important. I was going to say your luck might depend on your appearance,” he said while crossing his arms and smirking at his brother. Saoirse frowned, but fearing her older brother's answer, she did not dare to ask why he said that. She just turned back to the window and looked at the view.
The vast castle appeared soon, which amazed Saoirse. In the Red Moon Pack, their castle was huge and opulent, but this one was bigger and nicer.
Since they arrived in the territory, and she saw a lot, she did not wonder why they said this pack was the strongest and biggest. When they were getting closer to the castle, she saw the Omegas were out already. All of them lowered their heads, none of them looked at the carriage.
When they got closer, she saw some Gammas appear too, and finally, when they arrived, the leader Beta stepped there to be the first to greet them.
When all of them were out of the carriage, the Beta bowed.
“Welcome to the Blue Blood Pack, young Alphas. My name is Beta Ian Garrik. Please follow me. Our Alpha and Luna are looking forward to seeing you.”
Kaith nodded in agreement with a polite smile on his face, then they followed him. Saoirse heard the Gammas ordering the Omegas to bring their luggage inside, not kindly at all.
She remembered how sad Grace became when she told her about the Omegas in her pack. Grace was confused by their lack of respect for the wolves that care for their needs and provide them with delicious food. Saoirse wished to see that pack. She felt she could be happier there.
The old castle was more beautiful inside. Saoirse was truly amazed, like her brothers, who probably tried to hide their amazement. They wanted to show the Blue Blood Pack their castle in the Red Moon Pack was just as splendid as this one.
The Alpha and Luna waited for them with their son. He was eighteen. He was one year older than Saoirse. As an Alpha, he was tall and muscular. He had brown eyes and short, dark hair. His expression was serious, not a single smile, like his parents.
Saoirse knew they were not worth less than them, as she was an Alpha blood as well, but when she looked at the leader wolf, she felt some kind of fear. She remembered instantly how Grace called him. The tyrant.
When they stood opposite them, they greeted each other politely first, then the Alpha motioned for them to follow him. He asked Keith to walk next to him, and he asked him about the route while Saoirse, Haye and his family just followed them quietly.
When they arrived at the stairs, Alpha told them to go to their rooms, and he also asked them to get ready for lunch.
Three gammas accompanied the siblings and led them to their temporary space. The floor was enormous, and Saoirse thought she would get lost if she had to move alone.
She sighed in relief when she finally closed the door behind herself. She looked around. Since they arrived, this was the first time she hadn't felt surprised. The room was bigger than hers at home, but it was just as luxurious as hers. A red silk quilt covered the beautiful wooden four-poster bed, and it looked comfortable. She had a sofa covered with a red silk material as well. She had a dressing corner, a table, and she also got a mirror.
She stepped there, and she just realized her hair was a little messy, so she went to her dressing table and got a brush. She tried to fix her look.
Before she left, her mom asked her to keep her looking perfect. She asked her not to bring shame to the Red Moon Pack.
When she was done, and she looked in the mirror, she remembered Grace’s words again. She always said Saoirse was beautiful. She said she was envious of her long, black hair and her blue eyes. Despite that, she never thought she was a nice looking she wolf, she envied Grace because of her appearance.
She smiled at the thought of her beloved friend. She wished to be with her at that moment, instead of being in this pack.
She heard a knock on her door. She took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly while she watched herself in the mirror, then she turned around and walked to the door to open it. It was a Gamma who stood there with his head lowered.
“Alpha Saoirse, the lunch is ready. Would you like me to accompany you to the dining room?”
“Yes, Gamma.” And she stepped out of the room to follow him. It was a long walk, but at least she saw more of the castle.
When they arrived in the dining room, the Gamma bowed, and Saoirse thanked him. When she stepped in, she greeted the Alpha couple politely, then Luna showed her where to sit. She seated her opposite the young Alpha, Maxim. Even though Maxim still did not show a single smile, Saoirse noticed he always stared at her. That made her nervous, but she tried to ignore her feelings. Soon, her brothers arrived as well, and the Omegas served lunch. The lunch was copious and delicious.
“Saoirse.”
Saoirse moved her gaze to the Luna, when she heard her voice.
“Yes, Luna.”
“After lunch, you and Maxim could go for a walk around the castle. I’m sure he’d take you out happily. Isn’t it Maxim?”
Maxim looked at his mother, and the first smile appeared on his face. He wiped his mouth with his napkin and looked at Saoirse.
“Certainly, mother.”
Saoirse smiled back at him. She found him quite handsome, but his stiff and polite demeanor made others think he was older than his current age. Despite that, Saoirse felt a little sorry for him. Her parents were the same. She knew he must obey the strict rules made by the Alpha couple.
When lunch was over, everyone went back into their rooms. Saoirse opened her luggage, and chose a coat, make it ready for the walk. Maxim arrived soon. She had a last look in her mirror and opened the door.
