Chapter 5

1006 Words
“But dad, aren’t you busy?” He smiled and kissed his daughter. “I am busy, but I want to spend some time with you, too. I don’t want you to feel lonely.” Grace only smiled at her father. Even if her heart ached from the unfamiliar feeling of loss, she felt foolish because of her thoughts about yesterday. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and she let him lead her to the dining room. Morag wanted to have a word with her, but she asked her to save it for later. Morag understood her and let her spend time with her dad happily. At breakfast, mostly Urquhart and Struan talked. Struan couldn’t hide his pride in his sons, and Urquhart repeated many times he agreed with him, and he also mentioned Alastair would be a perfect leader. This sentence made Grace wonder. She still couldn’t understand her father at all. Struan asked Urquhart what he meant with a frown, but just like when Grace asked her father earlier, the answer was only laughing. After they finished, they all went into their room. Grace wanted to go out straight after they ate, but her dad said she must have some rest after breakfast, avoiding sickness. Grace only nodded with the smile of understanding, and she did what her father said. He laid on the sofa. She was about to read their history book when she heard Morag’s voice in her head. “Oh, I’m sorry Morag, I forgot you wanted to tell me something.” “It’s just about that witch.” Grace just remembered that feeling. She nearly forgot about that, as she was so excited and happy about the time her father wanted to spend with her. “What was that, Morag? Marge was like she was angry with me.” “Actually, I could feel that she was fuming.” “Why would she be angry with us?” “That is something about Alastair.” Grace's eyes widened. “I don’t understand Morag.” “I don’t understand that either, but I think she doesn’t like us to be close to Alastair and Farlan.” “Well, if that is the reason, she can be at ease, as I don’t think we are going to see them soon.” Grace sighed sadly. She could feel Morag was sad too. “Do you think Marge will harm us?” Grace asked her beloved wolf after a few minutes of silence. Morag was thinking for a few seconds, then Grace felt she disagreed. “I don’t think so, Grace. Only the Moon Goddess knows how long they live with us, and they are white witches. White witches harm no one.” Grace felt satisfied with her answer. Actually, she did not even think about this, but that put her at ease. The time passed by quickly. Grace smiled widely when Urquhart mindlinked her: he was waiting for her. She quickly got her robe, and she ran to her dad. Her dad held her hand and led her out. They walked away from the hill and after they walked for a while, her dad stopped. “Okay Grace, we turn around and shift.” Grace nodded and did what her dad said. When Morag appeared, she turned around to see her dad, Fergus. They greeted each other by pushing their foreheads together, and they licked each other’s faces. “Morag, first we are going to run, then we start the training. Today I’m going to show you some tricks to fight, and when you are tired enough, I let Urquhart do the same with Grace.” Fergus told his pup in their minds, who nodded happily. “Let’s run, Morag.” He barked at her, then both of them ran as fast as they could. Morag has improved a lot since they trained last time, and that surprised Fergus. She was much quicker. For a moment, he thought she might train with someone. He thought about Calan first, but he pushed these thoughts away, as the Delta Wolf was too old to train anyone. His thoughts moved to the scenes of this morning. Could it be he and Urquhart missed something, really? Could it be that she spent much more time with Alastair and Farlan than they thought? He thought that this was the right answer, and he was more than satisfied with that. Fergus was happy to see his pup was much better at fighting as well. He showed her some tricks which she used happily and successfully. They fought for a long time till Fergus had to admit that he was not that young anymore, and he asked Morag to stop. Morag only laughed at her father, but she did not want to be disrespectful. She just agreed, and soon they shifted back into their human forms. After they changed their outfit, Grace trained with her dad happily. She remembered the time when she was younger, and when they played. Even if she noticed her dad became tired quicker, this time was nearly the same. After they finished training, they had lunch together, but after lunch Urquhart apologized to Grace, saying he needed to go to work. Grace really didn’t want to stay alone or with Calan, so she asked her dad if she could join him, making sure she would not disturb him. Urquhart was thinking for a moment, but he found that useful, if his daughter learned about leading a pack. Since then, it has been going like that. Urquhart wanted to spend more time with his daughter. He realized Grace was growing up, and he didn't want to miss out on her life after seeing the young betas leave and the scene that could predict her future. While Urquhart was teaching his daughter, he realized Grace was an excellent student. She was clever minded. She learned quickly, and she took her responsibilities seriously. He felt so proud of her watching her become his and Struan’s best helper.
