Crashing waves fill my ears. At first, I’m alarmed but then remember where I am. The sun hasn’t started to rise, and I don’t even bother to check the time. She wants to watch the sun rise and I have my alarm set so I can light all the candles and wake her later. She’s almost laying on top of my chest and I love it as I drift back off. Once it’s time for the sunrise, I lift her out of the bed and grab a blanket before settling into a lounge chair with her in my lap. “Wake up shortcake. It’s showtime.” She burrows in more to my chest and I chuckle.
I hear her grumble. “Whose idea was this?”
“Yours!” I retort. “Wake up beautiful. We can go back to bed after this if you want. No real plans until dinner tonight.” She slowly leans back opening her eyes. Her soft smile when she sees all
