Ellis Crashing waves fill my ears. At first, I’m alarmed but then remember where I am. The sun hasn’t started to rise, and I don’t even bother to check the time. She wants to watch the sun rise and I have my alarm set so I can light all the candles and wake her later. She’s almost laying on top of my chest and I love it as I drift back off. Once it’s time for the sunrise, I lift her out of the bed and grab a blanket before settling into a lounge chair with her in my lap. “Wake up shortcake. It’s showtime.” She burrows in more to my chest and I chuckle. I hear her grumble. “Whose idea was this?” “Yours!” I retort. “Wake up beautiful. We can go back to bed after this if you want.
