“Why do you think that?” Laura asked when she realized what he meant. “I shouldn’t have been too aggressive. I miscalculated. I wrongly predicted how they would respond. They did the opposite. And they even dared to kill father.” She could hear his anger and anguish from his tone. She patted his back before replying to him. She spoke gently and slowly. “Don’t blame yourself. Even father agreed to your plans. He supported your decisions. I also believed that what you did is the best course of action. The fault lies with them for being evil. Didn’t they send many people the second time they attempted to harm father? That proves they were determined and in case they didn’t succeed, I feel that they would try again until they do.” She took a deep breath at this point, feeling choked up
