Chapter 46 - How Surreal

528 Words
Deciding to take matters into my own hands as Emily continued to follow me around, I take a turn outside of the kitchen and surprise her by putting my hand on her. Emily squealed as a bony hand wrapped itself around her upper arm, stopping her in her tracks, Another hand covered her mouth. "Not planning on ending this feud anytime soon, are you? Not going to stop with all this obsessiveness and stalker attitude," I whispered menacingly in her ear. Emily couldn't decide whether I was asking her questions or giving her orders. I could tell my tone chilled her bones. She shook her head furiously, unable to say a word with my hand covering her mouth. "You're lying!" She screams, pulling my hand off her face, and pushing me to the floor. Emily let out a gasp as she watch me hit the cold, stone floor. The blow nearly knocked the breath out of her body. "I want to stop. I know it's wrong, and I promise you I want to stop." she pleaded from her spot crumpled on the floor. She clutched her arms close to her body protectively. "I won't tell anyone, I promise. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at me. "Please," she whimpered, "I don't want to do this anymore." Just then, the door rings once more, a haughty expression crosses my face, stretching my smile from car to ear. Emily's eyes darted from the boy to the girl and back again. She knew what these people did to deserters. She was there when they caught Gilly. We all remembered him. His cries for forgiveness, his pleas for a reason, haunted her dreams every night. She was going to end up just like him. The horrific thought sent a sob through her body. Emily bursts into tears in front of me while the door continuously rang. She was on her knees, begging. "I won't tell a soul. Just let me out, please!" The knocking and ringing became incessant and loud. "Gilly promised the same thing." Emily cried harder. "I'm not like Gilly. I promise, no one will ever know!" Suddenly, Emman enters the room, with no hesitation, he hoisted her up and gripped her arms tightly. He began to pull her down the corridor, away from the kitchen floor, looking at me briefly, and never again. "We've been over this hundred times. We won't let Emily near you again, I promise." He mutters as he looked at me. "After all, Emily, you know you started this game." He looked her in the eyes. "Letting you go would be the most decent thing we could do for you, after all these." Despite herself, Emily shook her head. "Please, please, please," she said over and over as Emman dragged her out of the house, almost literally. "Shut up," Emman whispers loudly at him, angrily, her eyes flickering around the corridor. Emily broke free from Emman's grasp and ran up the patio, heading for me again. "Santi!" she cried. Something hard hit her in the back of the head. The room went dark Emay's body hit the stone floor with a shocking smack.
