Chapter 4 - Drama Queen

1715 Words
Elisa D´Angelo I was sitting on the TV room when a pissed off silver Lycan walked past me. “Are you alright?” I asked my sister Angela. She was tempting fate if she dared walk into the house, shifted into her Lycan. Mom´s ground rule was not Lycans in the house; here she was stumping and getting mud all over the place. Mom is going to pissed with a capital P. She grunted my way, and in my mind just said, “f**k Off!” My older sister Angela tends to be very temperamental, but I like to keep to myself. I flipped the magazine page I was reading nonchalantly and shrugged. I was not going to engage with her, she was in her f*****g Lycan form, for crying out loud. “What happened?” Mom walked into the hallway and asked me, and I lifted my gaze and sighed. “Angie came home pissed...” I said, and she pinched the bridge of her nose. “I am telling you, if she walked over my white carp... Damn it!” she grunted, and I chuckled. She adored her white carpet; if you ask, it was a good one, but who would dare place it right in the middle of a very transited hallway with the risk of having a Lycan stomp all over her precious fluffy angel white carpet? Dad walked out of his office to witness all the mud and scratches on the wall. “Who broke the rule?” he said in a mild voice. This was not his first time dealing with this. More times than we would have wanted to witness, Stavros and Grecco had trashed the place in their Lycan forms, thus the golden rule. “Your oldest is having a life crisis...” Mom said, trying to control he blazing anger. Dad nodded, and as usual, he slowly and very calmly walked towards the raucous. He was patient and collected; he barely lost his s**t, and he was the perfect neutralizer for Mom´s dramatic ways. Sometimes, I think Angie got that temperament from Mom, while I got mine from Dad. “Damn it, we need to fix the wall...” Dad said, and Mom gasped. I just chuckled, because, well.... c´est la Lycan vie... Mom sighed, and she looked at me. “And you just let her walk all over!” she protested, trying to get me involved in the drama. “I told her about the rule and she growled at me...” I lifted my hands in surrender, and she pinched the bridge of her nose. “How many times do we have to remodel the place?” Mom mumbled, and I giggled. “You wanted a big family, right?” I asked her, and she gave me a nasty side glance. The Goddess gave you one! Enjoy...” I smirked, and she slapped me playfully while laughing. “Oh, Elisa... the man who gets to have your heart would be a lucky one.” Mom embraced me, and I smiled. “I just want him to love me like dad loves you...” I said, and she smiled. “Of course, you deserve all the love and happiness in this world. A handsome Lycan who would lie at your feet and love you like no other.” Mom said, and I smiled feeling giddy. I can´t wait to meet my mate.. A moment later, Dad walked out, and Angie sat beside him. “Sorry, Mom...” she said in a regretful tone. “What happened?” I asked her, and she sighed. “I am angry and confused,” she said, and I took a deep breath. Angie has struggled to find her place and loves a human, a partner incapable of feeling a mate bond, at least not able to feel it in full force. So yeah, her feelings are elevated and on the surface most of the time. “Did you see Roger?” Mom asked, and she nodded. “Yeah, we met up in Central City,” Angie said, and Mom nodded. “Is it weird to feel all of this love, the pull, my Lycan falling for him, and yet not be sure?” she blurted, and I quickly got interested. That could be me in a few months. “What do you mean?” Dad asked, “Well, I am almost sure he is my mate. My Lycan hasn´t claimed him, because that would happen during the Moon Ball. Still, it bothers me not to know with certainty. He has been respectful and caring, but what if...” She sighed, and my dad nodded. “Angie, the Goddess will take you on a journey and a path that will give you everything you have been searching for. Sometimes it’s not what we wish for or expect to happen, but in the end, she will straighten and mend everything to get you to the end goal.” Dad said, and I nodded. “I get you were confused, but why were you angry?” I asked, and Mom shook her head. “Haven´t you heard?” Angie said, and I shook my head. I was off the loop, as usual. My parents and brothers think I am too young to care or understand. The joke is on them because I see and hear many things around me. “Not really, I was reading a magazine,” I said nonchalantly. “Mat asked Roger to mediate between the Humans and Supernaturals...” Angie said, and I looked at her, not understanding the big issue. “Lorenzo was getting old and rusty. New blood was needed for that position, anyway. Good for Matty for making the call, and excellent opportunity for Roger, right?” I said, and she huffed. “We are on the brink of war with the humans! Mat is risking Roger on purpose, " she said, while Dad shook his head and Mom blinked, trying to understand where all that was coming from. “Good Goddess!” I stood up, and Angie gasped. “You need to f*****g grow up, Angie...” I said, and my father blinked, now dumbfounded. “Mat will never risk Roger; he knows how much he means to you,” I said, and she blinked several times. Do you honestly think Arman will not support him, given that he is Ava´s foster brother?” I said, and Angie blinked again. "Don´t you think he is capable enough to handle the situation? To get the expected results?” I barked, and my entire family looked at me with something different—amusement, perhaps? “We have been at war or solving an unsolvable conflict since we have memories! Didn´t Uncle Alex, Dante, and Dad fight the ultimate war, saving people and eliminating evil?” I asked and she nodded, “Didn´t Mat, Stavros, Grecco, and the others have been fighting against different evils all along? Barry, Gael, and whatever the name of the other bastards were?” I sighed ... “How is this situation any different? And most importantly... What makes you think we will not make it?” I said, and my mother and father looked at me, stunned. “I mean, that is the big picture, but if you want to focus on your small situation—that the man you have a huge crush on would face mild risk—so be it!” I said and took my magazine in my hands. “I am going to read elsewhere... I am tired of all this drama...” I said, then looked at my sister, “Angie, not everything is about you.” I said, and then turned around to bump into Asteria. “Wow, what got your panties twisted?” She said while taking the noisiest bite out of an apple. “Miss Little Drama Queen...” I said, fed up. Asteria looked into the living room and stared at Angela. “Roger again?” she said casually, while Mom and Dad nodded. She took another bite of her apple, grating on my every nerve. “It is getting old, you know?” she said, bypassing me and slumping on a chair. "Are you going to read that?” she pointed at my magazine. “Yes, I am!” I said, and she nodded. I turned around and crashed into Mat´s chest. “Hey Elisa...” he said, and I rolled my eyes. He looked exhausted, fed up, and tired, and somehow, in my anger, I felt sorry for him. Stavros walked behind him, and then Grecco casually entered holding another apple. Great, just great. I must hear Angie’s complaining, Asteria´s apple biting, and Grecco´s. “It is so nice to have all my kids around.” Mom beamed, diverting the room's tension, and looking at me to move back into the room to have a nice family moment, right... " I like the new decor...” Grecco pointed out the mud and scratches all around the hall. You just nailed it if you were going for abandoned and creepy.” He joked and took a bite of his apple, forcing me to sit down. Taking a pillow, I hit him with it. Dad, who knew how to read the crowd perfectly, looked at Mat... “What is it, son?” he asked Matty. “Nothing. Just Roger called me, and he won’t do it if this one disagrees...” Mat pointed at Angie, and she gasped. “And I´ve seen the future, and he needs to handle the negotiations if we want to stand a chance...” Grecco bit his apple and covered his head before I hit him. “I am out of here,” I said, standing up. You, Angie, need to stop being selfish. You... and you...” I paused and pointed at Asteria and Grecco. "They are noisy eaters,” I said, and left. Finally, there is a bit of peace before all hell breaks loose again, with another episode of Angie and her tantrums.
