Ember hands the phone back and then she and Madison run to the next town to meet Kai at the location discussed. They can't risk staying too close to the dark pack for too long.
Madison doesn't ask questions as she just goes along for the ride. She can tell that Ember is anxious to get somewhere but she just stays quiet and hopes that Ember will take pity on her enough to take her back to her pack. The dark pack absorbed Madison's pack long ago, so she has no home to go to, no money, nothing.
She has trusted Ember so far, so will just keep trusting her. She has blind reliance on a girl that she has known for less than a day, she feels connected and trusts her.
Ember sees a black sports car parked in the edge of the treeline, her heart beats wildly as she stops to let Madison off.
